hey man, if that's the issue with your record player, too bad. as for me, analog is always preferable because human beings are analog creatures. digital will never compare. i can handle a few crackles every now and then if it means i get a much richer sound.

I love the sound of certain records when I listen to them on vinyl.

nod thumbs up!

shrug so be it. i just think it's funny that people insist that vinyl is suprior to CD. that may have been the case until the mid-90's, but considering most music is now recorded digitally, people who insist on vinyl are just not being logical.

vinyl is the the CD of its' day: a convenient, cheap piece of shit to mass produce record music on, with many limitations.

dude, i have way more cds than i do vinyl, and of course cds are more portable. but when it comes down to the best reproduction of music, most so-called audiophiles will tell you time and again that vinyl still cannot be beat. there is more dynamic range, for starters. cd sounds tinny in comparison. i mean, i don't totally hate cd though, because i threw out ALL of my tapes a while ago...but i will never throw out my vinyl cause i KNOW they sound better and will last longer than my cds.

c ya.

almost all music made in the last 10-12 years has been recorded in-studio (or even on-stage) digitally, so you're not going to get better sound quality from vinyl.

now, if there's an aesthetic quality you like about surface noise, or they way the music comes off of your particular turntable, that's great. enjoy it. but vinyl is not the be-all, end-all when it comes to sound quality. as I said, it is the CD of its own day. a cheap, convenient piece of shit to mass produce music on. it has its pros, but it has its cons, same with CD's. and for any music recorded in the digital age and then pressed to an analog format, you're actually losing sound quality with vinyl. you may like the sound of the hum that a needle on a record produces, but for anyting recorded in the last decade, you're deluding yourself if you think vinyl is the superior format for that music.

wrongo.

you've totally missed my point that vinyl has a wider dynamic range. you probably don't even know what that is.

you're not telling me anything i don't know, dude.

cds are nothing special....dvd will replace them soon thankfully.

because it has a wider dynamic range, just like vinyl and tape. much better sampling rate than cd. considering how much it was hailed as the definitive audio format when it came out, CD really hasn't bettered vinyl IMO, except for a clearer sound perhaps. it was really designed to surpass tape and vinyl still has a strong following. can we let it rest now? we're not going to agree, lol. smile

yes, but it's digital, so there's going to be some loss. unless it was recorded digitally in the first place.
