Chris Rock's "Bring The Pain"-Yay Or Nay? 
I heard a radion discussion probably yesterday about modern day comics but I was kinda surpiced at hearing those folks hounding "Bring The Pain" over Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, Cedric and Eddie Murphy. I love those cats but if not anything, this stand up session is a mind-expander(It showcased the intelligence wit that the brotha possesses despite how nerdy folks get offended by his outragous profanity). So, what do you think of that movie ya'll? | |

It was typical Chris Rock. He always tells it like it is, whether you like it or not. It always amazes me how these comedians can talk and talk for hours without a break. Chris goes on like he's the energizer bunny. I'm a big fan and I enjoyed "bring the pain". | |

Not sure what their criteria for their ratings were. But Chris is just tellin' the truth and havin' fun at the same time. Like the “niggas and black people” thing. Sometimes the truth hurts. tA  Tribal Disorder

So, what do you think of that movie ya'll? "BTP" is miles ahead of Bernie Mac, Harvey, and Cedric (all of whom I like to different degrees). But Eddie unquestionably influenced Rock's style and delivery, though not as substantive. Eddie is still the modern standard, so I would put "Delirious" or "Raw" in the same conversation with "BTP" but for different reasons. Chappelle, however, is the best going right now. Chris Rock's stand up is funnier than Bernie's IMO. I watch Bring The Pain all the time. I think that's probably his best comedy special, with Bigger & Blacker second and his newest last. | |
