70's Soul/Rnb Freaks: Remember Barbara Mason?

Last night, my local area midnight DJ gave an hour special to Phyllis Hyman, Shirley Brown, Marlena Shaw, Betty Wright and then Barbara Mason.

Its been a minute since I've heard "Yes, I'm Ready" music

Most definitely. That song gets played either on oldies specials on Sundays or at night radio stations play that in the mood music.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

we also should remember her work with the late Curtis Mayfield "Give me your love"

and also lending her talent to the soundtrack of Sheba Baby.

I have that song & "Shackin' Up" as Mp3s somewhere. I love hear speaking word parts. She, Marlena, Shirly & Millie are the QUEENS of spoken words in 70's RnB music.

Speaking of "Another Man", from the Entertainment Law Digest:

Payback Industries v. Bad Boy Entertainment. Recording of "Another" by the late Notorious B.I.G. allegedly infringes on "Another Man," written by Butch Ingram and performed by Barbara Mason.

I coulda sworn that B.I.G's liner notes gave credit to Barbara for "Another Man"..

"Yes I'm Ready" is a c.l.a.s.s.i.c. I saw her perform that on a PBS soul concert a couple years ago and she can still really sing.

I saw her in concert last year, she apperead at one of our "Super Oldies Shows".She performed the hits "Yes,I'm Ready","Oh How It Hurts" and one other song that I can't recall.

Do any of you remember her 1977 album 'I Am Your Woman,She Is Your Wife'? That's an underrated soul music masterpiece!
