One funny thing about this album...

The song "Baby Be Mine" is followed by a song called "The Girl Is Mine"!

Likewise,on 'Invincible, the song "Unbreakable" is followed by a song called "Heartbreaker".And of course, there is also a song called "Break Of Dawn" on this same album.

lol

Bad is better, but Thriller is still the shit biggrin

I've always thought that Bad was just Michael's explicit way of making a smoother and quirky version of Thriller.

bad was well...BAD as in complete and utter mooseballs..

To be honest....compared to the two albums that came before it,'Bad' is a huge disappointment boxed

It's my least fave but it's still a damn fine pop record. Any album that contains The Way You Make Me Feel, Man In The Mirror & Smooth Criminal can't be so... bad. smile

There are some gems on that album..."Another Part Of Me","Man In the Mirror" and "Liberian Girl" are top-notch,well-written tunes. But there are also some weak tunes as well ("Speed Demon" and "Just Good Friends").It's a decent late-80s pop album,I guess.

OMG, i'm mean but it's just funny imagining MJ listening to his album crying

I cried too, when i first heard invincible

Yeah, MJ apparently put his head in his hands and started sobbing. What a wuss. neutral

***On the original test pressing of this album, the song "Billie Jean" begins with a long, haunting intro.Quincy Jones has said that MJ was "heartbroken" when that part had to be edited out.

I thought the story was that Quincy thought the intro to BJ was too long (Drums, bass line etc) and wanted to trim it a bit. Michael coninced him not to by saying that that was what made him want to dance. I believe his words were "That's the jelly" lol

He still uses that expression you know?

For example:

Underaged boy: "Michael what u putting in there... it feels kinda cold..?
Michael: "That's the jelly!"

Some thoughts/memories/trivia about this album...

***Alot of people weren't too "thrilled" with the first single "The Girl Is Mine" with Paul McCartney, but I like this song. It's just a mellow, breezy pop number. But it turns out that Michael wasn't too impressed with it either! In a TV Guide interview from a few years ago,he admitted that it didn't "turn out like he had hoped" (he said something to that effect).

That was the first song I heard and I wasn't too turned on by it. I bought the 12 Inch of "Billie Jean" and the 45 of "Beat It" first. It wasn't until I started hearing "Wanna Be Startin' Something" and "P.Y.T." on the radio that I decided to buy the album.

I liked "Off The Wall" much better. "Bad" was OK but not NEAR as good as the other two albums. By the time "Dangerous" came around, he was starting to get on my nerves with all those damned guest artists on the albums.

nod Epic was pressuring them to get the album done and as a result they rushed the final mix. Then they had to remix the whole album in like a week or something.

nod

But wouldn't it be cool to hear that original test pressing, even with all the flaws? I bet it would make a fortune on Ebay lol

that would be real nice

CynicKill

Michael fell off completely after "Thriller". NEVER bounced back. He had one good song post "Thriller" called "They Don't Really Care About Us" that caused a whole lotta controversy that he sheepishly backed away from but other then that i can't think of anything. Oh maybe "Dirty Diana".

Bad is better, though depsite the late 80's feel.....not many albums actually sound like Bad if ya think about it do they?

I love "just god friends"....."girl is mine" is funny but 4 the wrong reasons!

"Get it" with Stevie Wonder was a good song.....Mike sounds great on it! But it was no big hit though neutral

fav track off thriller? "wanna be startin something".....damn that track is so original and fresh sounding, and the intro is killer! The inteo and basslines always put a smile on my face! Seond would be "human nature".....the sound is gorgeous.....so innocent too
