70s R&B Classic Of The Day: "Funky Situation" by The Commodores (1977) It's from their 1977 self-titled album. This album features the massive hits "Brick House" and "Easy",but I think "Funky Situation" could have easily become a huge hit single too.Who else loves this song? "Could it be love? It's a Funky Situation Could it be love? It's beyond my imagination Could it be love? She's such a sweet temptation Could it be love?"

I need that poster! LOL Would you say this is your favorite Commodores album? I can't choose between this album and 1976's 'Hot On The Tracks',which is also superb.

Hell yeah! But the jam on this album was/is "Zoom". The Commodores were on a roll between 1976-1980 and this by far their best album imo. when I thimk of 1977 there were a lot of great music that year:
Parliment Funkentelechy vs, the Placebo Syndrome, The Isley Bros, Go for your guns Brother Johnson, Right on time Slave, Self titled debut album Ronnie Laws,[/b] Midnight Plane George, Duke,[/b] Dookie Stick

In 2005,Lionel and the Commodores are gonna reunite for a new album and tour!
I've been hearing these rumors for years,so who knows if it'll really happen? But Lionel confirmed in a recent JET interview that he's working on it.

The 'Live' album is incredible! Unfortunately, most of their classic 70s albums are out of print,or only available as a costly import. These are the CDs that I have... 'Machine Gun' (1974)--remastered import CD 'Hot On The Tracks' (1976)---German import 'The Commodores'(1977)---remastered import CD 'The Commodores Live'(1977)---remastered But I won't be satisfied until they remaster 'Caught In The Act'(1975) and 'Movin On'(1975)

VH1 tried the reunite The Commodores for "Bands Reunited", but they were only able to get three of the members to meet.

Wow,I was beginning to think that "Bands Reunited" only focused on New Wave bands from the 80s.Have they tried to reunite any other funk bands from the 70s?

They tried to reunite Shalamar. They went to Howard Hewitt's house and rung the doorbell. He answered the door and asked him to participate. He was with it but warned them that it would be hard to get the others to agree to it. Jody Watley informed VH1 through her reps that she wasn't interested, so that nipped it in the bud. They didn't mention Jeffrey Daniel, though. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth
