R. Kelly Under Fire, Nationwide Boycott Underway Man, the shit has hit the fan...read this:
R. Kelly Under Fire Mon Apr 22, 6:43 PM ET R. Kelly is hitting all the wrong notes these days. Two months after a sex tape surfaced allegedly showing the R&B star committing lewd acts with an underage girl and prompted Chicago police to launch an investigation, one of Kelly's former protégés tells a Los Angeles radio station that the tape's purported victim is her 14-year-old niece, whom she introduced to the singer. Sparkle, the rapper who collaborated with Kelly on the 1998 hit "Be Careful," says she allowed her now 17-year-old niece (whose name is being withheld) to hang out with Kelly to help further her career. The girl was at the time an aspiring hip-hop performer. During an interview with "The Beat" radio station earlier this month, Sparkle said she initially had no qualms about Kelly coming into contact with her niece, since Sparkle's family kept close ties with the 33-year-old crooner (her brother-in-law plays guitar for Kelly). But Sparkle said she now feels guilty for not keeping a closer eye on the girl, who was 12 when she first was introduced to Kelly. "Although I'm not responsible for his actions, I feel responsible for even taking her there," Sparkle told the station, according to MTV News. "It's messed up. She's being exposed to the world. It's sickening." Sparkle also said her family is split about letting the matter go public, with some members willing to protect Kelly from prosecution should it come down to that, while Sparkle has cooperated with investigators building a case against the singer. Kelly, who is best known for hits like "Bump n' Grind," "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Sex Me," has repeatedly denied the charges through his lawyer, even as the much-bootlegged tape makes the rounds on the same underground circuit that made the Pamela and Tommy Lee video a must-see. The singer also suggests he might be the subject of an unspecified conspiracy. "I've been blackmailed for the last four years, and I didn't give in, and I'm still not gonna give in...There are a lot of people who are very jealous of me right now...and they're trying to destroy me," he told Chicago radio station WGCI on April 4. He says he has hired a private detective to track down the real culprits out to frame him. Still, he is unable to shake the mounting accusations and he is increasingly coming under legal fire for crossing the line with his young charges. In 1994, he secretly married a teenage Aaliyah when he was in his 20s. When the late singer's parents found out about the marriage, it was quickly annulled and both artists subsequently refused to comment on it. He has already settled two suits alleging bad behavior--making them disappear before the allegations could be aired in court. Two weeks ago, he reached an undisclosed deal with Tracy Sampson, who had accused Kelly of seducing her when she was a 17-year-old intern at Epic Records. In 1998, he paid a reported $250,000 to Tiffany Hawkins, who claimed Kelly had intercourse with her and talked her into participating in an orgy with other teenage girls when she was 15. MTV reports at least two other women are preparing similar actions against the singer. Meanwhile, sales of his latest album, a collaboration with Jay-Z titled The Best of Both Worlds that was expected to be one of the year's biggest albums, has been underperfoming. Industry insiders say sales not only have been hurt by the budding scandal, but by a lack of publicity. Def Jam has canceled plans for a video and tour, according to Entertainment Weekly. Def Jam didn't even put the artists' faces on the album cover. And an anticipated duet with red-hot R&B babe Ashanti on her monster-selling debut album was scuttled when she decided to perform with Ja Rule instead. Besides being dissed by his fellow artists, Kelly has also been the subject of a nationwide boycott and several record-smashing demonstrations. To help offset the bad pub, the Grammy-winning singer has announced he's releasing a new benefit single called "Soldier's Heart." His next album, Loveland, is due out in November. As for the Chicago investigation, police say they are still probing the matter and have not yet filed any charges. |

This is sad and really sick if it all turns out to be true.
I heard DJ Wendy Williams from WBLS in New York. http://wblsi.com/wbls/mus...lliams.htm Wendy is as raw as they come when it comes to the "stars", her entertainment reports, and dishing the dirt, and she was in tears during her description of the video tape she saw when she talked about it on air with several witnesses from the station who saw it with her, so folks wouldn't think she made it up. She also said it was so bad and sick at times, the guys from the station she wanted to see it with as witnesses, walked out in disgust cuz it got so sick. She can talk about the celebs like a dog and will do it right in front of their face and will make have them quiet and shocked as to where she got her info and usually are speechless, and I'm talking the hard-core thug rappers and Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim and more folks in that veign. She cried when she described the R. Kelly thing so I know it must be bad, cuz Wendy gets dirty all by herself! She also said she never wants to see R. Kelly or Jay Z up at the station again and they should just drop this next album they did together and forget about promoting it, esp. up at BLS. She mentioned then, and this was the same month this story broke that one of the yng gurls in it was Sparkle's neice. Its gonna be ruff either way for R. Kelly to explain this one! Pray that the truth comes out! peace!

Amen. I heard Sparkle released the tape. The girl is R. Kelly's bass player's daughter. How sick is that? Wendy Williams is an opportunist, and the biggest hooker of all. She'd exploit her mother for ratings. If the tape is so raw, why is she graphically describing it on air? Another case where everybody involved is despicable, and wrong. They all deserve each other. They say money don't buy you luv. But it'll help w/ the search.

What I wanna know is,where is R.Kelly's wife?? Why is she being so silent on this issue? Where was she when all of these young girls were visiting *THEIR* home and engaging in lewd sex acts with her husband?!! Where was she when he was paying off all those other girls? It's time for her to show some backbone and kick some ass! I heard of "standing by your man",but this is ridiculous.
Furthermore....where was the outrage when R.Kelly married Aaliyah back in '94? Why didn't *HER* family kick some ass and make a big deal about that?? Alot of R.Kelly's close associates knew what he was doing all these years, but nobody made a big deal about it.Why the silence??

I think the reason why Aailyah's family did nothing is because they probably felt that the implications would ruin her singing career (after all she was the breadwinner in that household) so instead they distanced her from R-Kelly. Prior to her death she has nothing about him and guard her private life.
Even though I too believe that its R-Kelly on that tape its amazing to me that he is coping so much heat, when other celebs who have done similar things have gotten away with it! Rob Lowe who did the same thing (filming himself having sex with underage girls).....Lowe SHOULD have gotten 20 years in jail, but like with most white celebs....he cut a deal....he only got a $20,000 fine and 20 hrs community work .....yet no one boycotted his movies (though he didn't get alot of good roles after the scandal became public). Finally IMO R-Kelly wife ain't saying shit cause she wants to wait for offical word, and then she'll probably take him to the cleaners! ROLFAMO Wasn't she one of his young back up dancers or something? [This message was edited Wed Apr 24 7:40:20 PDT 2002 by fonkywonder]

_____
Wendy Williams is an opportunist, and the biggest hooker of all. She'd exploit her mother for ratings. _____ Hey man, I would not argue with you there. From people I know who heard Wendy when she was in Philly on Power 99 FM, she definitely sounds like she would say or do just about anything for ratings, attention, just to get the guest on her show to respnd etc. But that time I heard her interviewing, I believe it was either Foxy Brown or Lil' Kim, Wendy brought up some stuff about one of them right there in their face and they would not respond, (once again I'm not sure if it was Foxy or Kim). It was some stuff that made one turn up the volume and say, "Did she just tell her or ask her what I think she just did?! Dang!" It was concerning something about her and someone else she slept with to get where she is and how the record company basically has a Platinum Credit Card Account in which they buy so many of the albums back to make it go platinum, etc. and basically how her album would not have sold that well if they hadn't done that, and some more stuff. The amazing thing again was (Lil' Kim or Foxy Brown) had no response you could hear her shock that Wendy said it and she didn't argue with her about it, she was speechless and tried to laugh it off and change the subject, at one point the bodyguard had to come in there cuz she had her people with her and they got upset about it. _____ If the tape is so raw, why is she graphically describing it on air? _____ That is a good point. I wondered about that too, but she said something like she debated whether to go into details about it or not but it was bugging her so much and she couldn't believe it so she felt compelled to talk about it out there(or her interpretation, description) about it because it was so sick. nce again, it was the first time I heard her actually cry on air about anything as wild as she gets. _____ Another case where everybody involved is despicable, and wrong. They all deserve each other.[/quote] _____ I hear that. Pray that the truth comes out. peace!

R.Kelly married one of his backup dancers in 1996.They have two daughters.
