what happened to the saxophone?

this instrument which was used so much in the 80's is barely heard anymore on any popular songs and i think its a big part thats missing in todays music

did you go to any of the musicology concerts? there was sax for days. bowie also uses a lot of sax in his music - of course, he's a sax player himself. nod

same you could say about all other real instruments confused simple, everything got replaced by computer chips

and of course, there was chicago back in the glory days, but that's not really specifically sax...but they still kicked butt.

now that was a horn section for days.. My Gawd..i wouldnt say they rivaled Tower of Power's horns.. but fuck if they werent as tight..

There's a new band I saw on MTV2's Subterranean. I think they're called Zomba or Zoltar or something. Anyways, they're a new Alternative Rock band and they have a female saxaphonist.

A sax playing friend of theirs named Sam Kininger is on this album and occasionally does their live gigs.
He's a player. thumbs up!

Stewart Matthewman's sax is sorely missing from Sade's last album....

but i quess we should be happy that he gets to blow on it with their Sweetback discs...

I actually didn't miss it in the mix. I think that album's perfect as is.

!!! have some funky sax too. Nothing spectacular but definitely welcome.
