DAMN. eek

i hang my head in shame when i say i had the new U2 album in my hand just a couple of hours ago, then i put it back down. i'm just not a big U2 fan, and with the stefani album out and the nirvana box set out today, not to mention xmas shopping obligations, i hadda tighten the ol' belt.

HOWEVER, i just discovered a beast buy gift card in my purchases, so i plan on going back tomorrow to get the U2 wrecka. so don't savage me just yet. redface

Okay, didn't see the sticky (sorry Anxiety) so let's try this again...

Does the cd only version have liner notes as the CD/DVD does not. Thank you!

I don't know, sorry Jillybean - I've got the book edition, although I'll be buying the DVD/CD set 2morrow as something 2 play more often.

I'll check 4 u when Im at work 2morrow if u like? I'd imagine it should have lyrics and linear notes...

I have the CD/DVD edition (not the book version) and it has all of the linear notes that the regular CD has; it comes with lyrics, pictures, etc...

Is the book version worth getting? That's the one I've been thinking about getting on the way home from work today.

Hrd 2 say really...I really like it, and think it's worth the money certainly. Great photos and artwork etc. The CD and DVD are not housed in a jewel case however, but special card flaps. It's not the kind of thing that u can file away easily - so, I'll be getting the standard DVD/CD edition 2morrow too. But yeah, I think it's cool - they're definately very limited, just depends if u like the idea of pouring over art done by U2 really I guess shrug

No, the book edition doesn't come with the linear notes from the regular CD edition or the CD/DVD edition.

Does the American boxset edition come with 'Fast Cars'? I had read earlier that it would, then got news that it didn't have it on it. Now I am reading again that the American book edition in fact does contain the song as a bonus track.

Didn't really think much of U2 one way or another over the years, but damn, I've got to give it to those guys. Vertigo is infectious and their marketing strategy to partner with Apple was GENIUS.

I'm gonna buy the damn U2 Ipod. First ipod. First U2 album.

A great, great band...

Welcome aboard, we've been expecting U big grin

Just in case u (or anyone else) hasn't seen it: U2 iPod ad

From U2.com:
23.11.2004
Stop The Traffic (Again!)
New Yorkers got the surprise of their lives yesterday - U2 performing from the back of a truck.

The band have made a bit of a career out of stopping the traffic - yesterday it was in Times Square, New York City as they filmed a video for ‘All Because Of You’, a track from the new album ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ released in the US today.

With long-time friend of the band Phil Joanou directing the shoot, Bono even had time for a rendition of ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ as the Christmas shoppers lay down their bags and city business folk hastily re-arranged their schedules.

Our insider on the shoot describes the day, which started at 7.45am, as 'incredible - Phil Joanou shooting video through the streets of New York. Ten miles covered on a 48ft flat bed trailer crossing Manahattan, down Colombus, Union Square, Time Square, Houston and over Manhattan Bridge.'

No sooner was the video shoot complete than it was a dash to Brooklyn Bridge where word of some U2-related action seemed to have got there ahead of the band. Several thousand fans turned up for an impromptu set that featured Vertigo; All Because Of You; Miracle Drug; Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own; City of Blinding Lights; Original of the Species; She's a Mystery To Me; Beautiful Day; I Will Follow; Out of Control and Vertigo again.

The whole unbelievable spectacle, with New York's skyline offering an unmistakeable backdrop, was filmed by MTV and is expected to air next month. Our source on set tells us that there were '28 cameras', not forgetting the helicopters and Brooklyn bridge lit up even brighter than the celebs who included: Moby, Aidan Quinn, Christy Turlington, Jay Z, Ed Burns and Julian Schnabel.

Video & BBC news report here
(Great report and footage)

Oh, and as I was driving to work yesterday, I saw the NYPD and roadies setting up the band's instruments and HAD NO IDEA who it was for. Thought it was another movie shoot.

Damn, damn, damn. U2 Rules!

I've heard something about a thing U2 has going with iTunes where their entire catelogue of music will be available with a bunch of unreleased material if you buy it all together. Anybody know what this will include? Will there be remastered mp3's of all those old 12" versions?

I understand the digital 'unreleased/rare' boxset is around $149, but that this is also available for individual download for 99cents a track (I think - or this may JUST be the back-catalogue) Not 100% sure as I don't have an iPod, so havent taken that much notice!

I think some of the Propaganda releases are on included tho (Like 'Hasta La Vista Baby' etc)

...Hope this helps?
