Mariah Carey

OK last night I just heard 2 new cuts from Mariah Carey. 1 with Snoop Dogg called Say Something & the other with Pharrell & I have to say both songs we're terrible & I hope this isn't any indication of her new cd when it comes out. Has anyone else heard these new tracks?

Say Somehthing is tight. Being a fan of Mariah's since Emotions came out though I have 2 say as fresh as I like it, I hope this album shows maturity like her previous albums like Mariah Carey, Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, even sum trax on Rainbow.

My fav Mariah album is Glitter though. As much as people hate it, she tore up some songs on there.. "Want You" "I Dint Mean To Turn You On" "Reflections" "Lead The Way" "All My Life" "Never Too Far"... lots of artists these days cant touch her vocally still.

I like both songs.

It took a while for me to get into "Say Something" but it's a really nice song.
I think that I'm feeling "Tonight" a little more than "Say Something" because it's more addictive, but just keep listening. They will probably grow on you!

Folks, love her or hate her Mariah is changing her style, and for that you have to give her "some" credit. She could of have fallen into that "safe" trap that most artists do, and keep putting out the same stuff as they always do.

The problem I think people have with her is how do you go from "dreamlover" which is as bubblegum as you can get to collabrating with rappers with a sexy image?? The public doesn't buy and because of that she will never have the pop status she once had, I feel she may not truly understand that. She also is a good songwriter.

I just think once an artist gets into their mid-30"s the younger MTV audience is listening to newer artists. MJ is arguably the greatest pop star ever, but do you ever see him, Prince, or Madonna ruling the charts again with new material?? The new albums will chart high at first and then gradually fall, this could be the same case for Mariah, it's time to pass the torch on to the new generation of artist.

"SAY SOMETHNG" is awesome! (I didn't liek Trhrough the rain or Loverboy!)
It sounds a lot like "GET INVOLVED" by Raphael Saddiq
I'm not feeling Tonight cause I hate Nelly
but to say she is releasing the same stuff since Butterfly is just lazy! Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter and Charmbracelet are very different, sure she has her OWN style much like SADE has her own sound! It's the same thing when people say SADE just releases the same musiv over and over, they just don't get it!

I thought "Say Something" wasn't terrible and I tend to dislike Mariah's stuff, especially the hip hop Mariah tracks.

that's right, because it leaves out Daydream, which is the template for all of them.

I haven't heard the song with Pharrell, but I like "Say Something" a lot! I've been listening to it quite a bit since someone on the org provided a download link a while back.

If you wanna hear "Tonight (feat. Nelly)" (produced by the Neptunes) from Mariah's brand new album, orgNote me.

I've never cared for Mariah Carey from day one. She first came out as a sweet, little, goodie two shoes, Whitney Houston, type. Then she started looking like a complete whore.

If she had first came out looking like a whore, I probably would have been a Mariah Carey fan. lol

I was expecting Glitter to be a hard-core 80's cd when it first came out....instead it was mostly overproduced and marketable tracks featuring snoop, ludacris, brat, fabulous,ja rule, etc. There were only a couple of songs that screamed 80's ..."Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and "All my Life"...I liked that one, since it was produced by Rick James. I did like "Lead the Way" too...it was probably my fav. track from Glitter, even though it wasn't "80's"...but it did remind me of her classic ballads.
