Jane Child! Remember her?

She did that killer late 80's pop song "dont wanna fall in love" which had killler remixes by Teddy Riley!

I remember first seeing her and thinking "holy shit, thats how she looks like!" I did not imagine a pop songstress(?) to look like a goth with noise oiercings etc.....I thought it was cool as I was only about 5 or 6!

I dug up her album "Jane child" which included the follow up single "welcome to the real world"! Waht amazes me is that it is all her! The production, the composing, the vocals.....

anyone have this album or any of her other albums? Iam intrigued again?

I just have the remix single for "Don't Wanna Fall In Love". Didn't like much of her other material.

Her 1993 album 'Here Not There' was really good too - particularly 'Mona Lisa Smiles' and the awesome 'Sarasvati'.

SHe's just done a cover of Tina Turner's 'We Don't Need Another Hero' apparently!

I have not had the time to hear it all yet, but I love the grungy "mona lisa smiles", but then production reverts back to her first album on the poppy "so whatcha do" so whats up? It sounds weird u know what I mean?

Iam only half way through.....i'll get through it soon! I'll keep an eye out 4 "sarasvati"....."all I do" is gorgeous!

Damn I was lucky to find this album!

i'll try her website u gave me, maybe they could answer some that question?

I remember I ripped her chain out of her ear and nose at the same time. She was so distraught, she never came back into the lime light. I think she tried but the incident traumatized her too much.

Some people can't take a joke...no matter how painful it is. I was only trying to help her image.

Yeah her image what was up with that? as that her own or the company's? Seriously.....because pop music with goth accessories was not the best of match ups surely?

Check her website listed earlier in this post! U can download a couple of the vids off each album 4 free!

First album, all the tracks sound like "don't wanna fall in love", though not as good.....but if, like me, u love that production, then u should buy it!

her second album, as I said, is a weird mix.....check her website 4 more info! My question about the mixed genres on her 2nd album I posted earlier was answered.....though on a fansite i think! anyway, seems like her record co. was screwing her image wise, she disagreed and "grunged" up some of the tracks or something to spite her record company! Makes sense anyway.....

That song was the SHIZNIT. It may still hold up. I haven't heard it in a while. I think I have the casette. Isn't she living up in Canada or something. Is she Canadian?

If genius is to be applied to an artist, this woman definately deserves it. She is DEEP. Real deep. I would put her on Prince's level when it comes to arrangments and TTD's level as a lyricist. She is so much more than the pop artist she was promoted as. WB really dropped the ball on that one.
