Ok, so this is an MJ thread, so sue me. I've been tempted to ask this ever since I got here and I've rarely contributed to the overproliferation of MJ threads but: what is the real story about whatever relationship/interaction prince and michael jackson may or may not have had? I've heard that they hated each other, than that they were indifferent to one another. Other than the "Bad" story, I know nothing, so what's up?

Prince went to visit MJ at Neverland where they rode on the ponies and later proceeded to MJ's bedroom to read Harry Potter novels.

I saw Chris Rock interview Prince once, and they got into a discussion about Michael. I think it had to do with the Bad story that you mentioned. Anyway, Prince seemed to be pretty indifferent in regard to Michael. If I remember correctly Prince stood up and started laughing about the whole thing. It seems to me that Prince believes that Michael and he are different kinds of musical artists. I don't think that Prince sees Michael has his competition, per se.
Also, Prince doesn't seem to dislike Michael personally coz I don't think he even associates with him. Prince is more a "musicians' musician." He seems to like being around band-types.

I've never heard Michael comment on Prince. However, I heard that early on in Janet's career, Joseph Jackson said to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis that he didn't want Janet to sound like Prince. So maybe there was some rivalry on the Jackson side but not with Prince.

i don't think so either. i heard that around the time when musicology first came out he did a radio interview. and when asked what he thought of mj..and he said genious. and when asked what he thought of janet he said genious' sister. so there ya go..if its true.

Even if they don't like each other(that I dont think they dislike eachother either), they have atleast some respect.

Prince went to see the Jacksons' Victory Cooncert and MJ wacthed Purple Rain at some hotel cinema in 1984

Prince fancied Latoya though.in late 70's, he asked her out apparantly! prince was very forward in an in a arogant way I imagine! She turned him down!

Prince was asked whether he tohught he could take MJ in a fist fight in his 2000 returning to the name of Prince press conference, and he said that we should calm down about MJ cause he may just know something we don't.

The closest theyv ever come to doing anygthing musical toether is the Bad thing, and the James Brown show, where just as MJ went off the stage, prince came on.

One of the BeeGees said that once he was at Michael jacksons home and Michael asked him "Am i better than prince". Appparently Mr BeeGee didnt give an answer. Instead he said something along the lines of 'why not just be yourself'. The BeeGee then added that he couldnt deal with those type of ego issues.
