I think Beautifully Human is a good solid album and while I really like the lyrics and what she's doing vocally, I prefer Who Is Jill Scott? as well. I can't put my finger on why... Is is because Who has more automatic grooves? Just one song after another of great jams? I played the album for about a week after I got it and then that was it. I never think to tote it along with me when I go out.

I like Golden, Not Like Crazy, My Petition are the songs I truly love.

I did see her perform Golden on some show and she could be arrested for murder 'cause she killed the performance. Switched up the style and everything. I'm still amazed at how the CDs don't really capture a fraction of what she gives off at live shows.

really? i haven't heard her live before although i always wanted to see her live. i think both albums are good, but its still hard for me to keep "beautifully human" in my disc changer. the only song that i can stand listening to is "not like crazy" and i like to play that one over and over again. You are right though, the words to the songs are very powerful on the second album than the first. sometimes u get tired of the "i found the number in your pants" and "why are you cheating on me" routine in songs. I like how she really gives it up to the good men out here too because there are a lot of good men although they are hard, very very hard to find. my fav song on the first album was "he loves me".
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I put Not Like Crazy on repeat. There's something about that song. I think the repetition of the lyrics become almost trance like. But yeah, Beautifully Human quickly got kicked out of the rotation pile for me too. I always seem to not be in the mood for it. But if you get a chance to see her live go go go. She has a wonderful energy. She performed Golden on Jay Leno a few months back.

The other day,I heard a new Jill Scott song from her latest album.I think it's called "Whatever,Whenever" or something like that? It's a very good track...sexy,seductive and breezy. She's singing most of it in her falsetto.Reminds me of a late-70s R&B groove. Is this her next single? It should be!!
