i completely missed the EMA's this weekend and just caught a few little bits and pieces of the recap on tv. so what was it like? just another crappy award ceremony like most of the ones we've had of late, or were there actual high lights? ? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Franz Ferdinand rocked! Gwen was great! Although, the show was boring... Eminem still sucks...

A lot better than the American ones, even though most of the performers - and I think all winners even - were Americans themselves (European Music Awards? ... right.) That's not to say much of course. But at least all the performers sang live - that's (categorical) progress, isn´t it?

I also think that there are too many similarities in both the American and European music awards. They're only a few months apart and they feature a lot of the same celebs performing and picking up awards. If I'd be in charge I'd make the European music awards more alternave in content. Have a bit more depth to it, present it with something of that old world class instead of having an exact las vegas copy of the american version. I'd love to see people like Tori Amos, Nick Cave, Erykah Badu, Ryan Adams, Ed Harcourt, Ben Harper, Radiohead, Bjork, Ann Pierle, and even people like Norah Jones and such come perform or pick up their awards. The world does not revolve around pre-packed teen pop, just like the whole world does not revolve around those blond hair blue eyes with neo-80's outfits and silicon faces we get force-fed on tv these days [Edited 11/22/04 5:59am] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I finally came to the conclusion that i really don't understand pop-music anymore. Usher wins best male artist, britney best female,...I turned off the show after about 30 mins. Only Outkast's awards were justified...all the rest was total cr*p...some of the performances were good though. It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!
