I can't really think of anyone who has made the transition that hasn't already been mentioned, but there are plenty of teen idols with enough talent to do so. It's all up to the public's reception, I guess.

I think Robbie Williams is a very good example!!! I hated Take That, but appreciate his solo work very much!

And even George Michael!!!! good example too!

What about Depeche Mode (in some countries, unfortunatley not in Holland)

Such a dynamo.

I must nominate Kylie Minogue, who was a teen idol on Neighbours before doing cheesy SAW pop and then singing (and writing) some great pop songs in the 90's and 00's.

Alanis Morrisette was a teen "pop" idol in Canada.

Also, Ricky Martin is earning more and more respect.

And in acting, Johnny Depp was a "teen idol," so to speak.

I don't think rashaan patterson was a "teen idol" per se but he was cool as hell on Kids Incorporated.

Either some of you are just being facetious, or we're gonna have to re-define the word "respected."

George Michael should be at the top of the list, because after he left Wham he really worked hard at proving that he was a serious artist and not a teen pop star.

Are we talking about artists who started out as teen idols, and matured to become "respected artists", or artists who appealed to teen audiences?

I'm a little slow.
