OnionJuice said: Encore is great album, but truthfully its definately by far his weakest.
This is something every great artist goes through. I was never really too crazy about "Just Lose It"; "Big Weenie" is funny ass hell, but the chorus is corny as hell; "One Shot 2 Shot", which sounds like a D12World outtake, wasn't really need on the album; if you include "Love You More" from the bonus disc, Em has 3 songs about Kim; But atleast, 50 Cent seems to have step his lyrical game up - reminds me of his style from the "Power Of The Dollar"-era, so Im definately anticipating his next album. So, "Encore" is to Eminem what "Nastradamus" is to Nas - a great album, but the weakest link in his discography (not including that wack-ass Infinite album). [Edited 11/13/04 20:05pm] Nastradamus was Nas going more the commercial route with songs like, Shorty - with Genuine. Yeah, I think your right, people hated that album, I passed on that one as well. Back 2 the subject - I loved Eminem last album - thought it was straight brillance. I am not buying this one - but I have heard four tracks thus far. Like Toy Soldiers is brillant, reminds me Jay Z's - Hard KNock Life - the chorous Rain Man is backed with tight production with stupid childess lyrics. I don't get it - why is he saying - cause I aint got no legs in the chorous? Is he making fun of Christopher Reeve - can someone please explain?

With this album, Eminem proves that he doesn't have to make hits to prove his talent. I can't believe he samples Martika and Heart and makes it work. The beats are there and the lyrics are better than ever. It is an emotional album as well. Even if you are not a rap fan, check this out. It might make you one.

Being a huge fan of Eminem, I expected a lot more from this cd than he delivered. Eminem's albums have never been just about "cars, hoes, rims, clubs, drunk and crunk", so I didn't expect him to suddenly start rapping about those topics on his fourth album. However, after the excellent Eminem Show, I did expect him to maintain the level of maturity of the aforementioned album and its follow up soundtrack.
Instead he delivered the most sophomoric album of his entire career (and that's really saying something). I think this cd is even more immature than the Slim Shady LP; What happened to the meaningful tracks like "White America", "Square Dance", "Til I Collapse", "Soldier", Say Goodbye Hollywood", "Lose Yourself", "8 Mile", "Rabbit Run" and "Stan"? In their place, we get toilet humor ("Puke", "Just Lose It", "Em calls Paul") terrible rhymes ("Big Weenie", "My 1st Single" "Ass Like That"), and sub-Kayne West sampling ("Like Toy Soldiers"). I went into this CD without prejudice, and I must say that I am extremely disappointed in it. If Em wants to maintain a level of critical approval, then he's gotta put out a more challenging album next time around. paisleypark4 said: I just do not understand what is wrong? Man I thought Eminem Show was boring. Man I swear that album was putting me 2 sleep. Who cares if he said goodbye 2 Hollywood? Never enough was much more entertaining to listen 2. I feel Mosh was a much better song than "White America". Soldier Actually to tell the truth "Infinite" was probably a more mature album than Slim Shady LP, and Marshal Mathers LP...and that album also was aiight but nothing spectacular if he didnt get crazy with the next 2. Eminem being serious is just not him. I was expecting this CD to be really serious and lush, but man he had me laughing, thinking, bumping. I hope he never turns in2 50 Cent, Youngbuck or any of his other proteges. I accepted 8Mile soundtrack because it fit in with the film. If I had a CD like that FULL of that I would be so through. I guess this is the "Lovesexy" / "Batman" era of Eminem's carrer. LOL. Sum love it, some hate it. I was glad I got a serious Em, but mostly the fun side of Em. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
