I agree that Hendrix's legend has been elevated to levels beyond reality, overshadowing many many many many great guitarists unfairly.

That said, this article is still an opinion, and the disputes between guitar lovers will remain as such, as you can't measure soul.

The writer makes a few valid points. However his ultimate agenda becomes clear when you go to the homepage of the site.

To me the onstage Hendrix was only piece of the total legacy.
The songwriting and recordings are an integral part.
The doors he opened as to what could be done with a studio is just as important if not more so.

Which Cream album comes even close to Electric Ladyland?

Neither! disbelief

Personally, even as a guitarist myself, and a keen follower of many different geetar slingers, I have to admit that neither of these guys do it for me at all.

Really. No kidding! Hendrix...yeuch, sloppy, sloppy stuff. Clapton? YAWN

Could a classically-trained master chef's culinary craftsmanship ever possibly trump the magical alchemy of the food cooked at mamaw's house??

Can I get a second helping of biscuits with that?

P.S.
Which of these cats did Little Richard want on his team?

Personally I like Jimi better as a guitarist, songwriter, performer, artist, but this article is very well done.

Clapton sometimes gets overlooked the same way my girlfriend doesn't see the beauty of a woman who is merely flawless. Jimi's playing is a hot, exotic woman, Clapton is a flawless classic beauty.
