I Need Help On A Elton John Compilation People, now I have his 1990 box set, To Be Continued..., but I really don't want to take out or listen to that big ol' thing. I view To Be Continued... as a collector's item or something. I really need help on this Greatest Hits 1970-2002 double-disc compilation he released in 2002. That 1975 collection, Greatest Hits, which I used to have, is not precise to me. I just need a second Elton compilation that is complete and also compact. Believe it or not, To Be Continued... is more precise and complete, but I just don't want to listen to that whole thing, so can someone please help me? Check me out and add me on:

I have that massive 4-CD box set 'To Be Continued' and I gotta agree with you,it's probably too much of a good thing...lol...I don't like to take it out and have to dig through all those songs! I much prefer these CDs instead... Elton John Greatest Hits Volume 1 Elton John Greatest Hits Volume 2 Greatest Hits (1976-1986) The first two CDs focus on his 70s stuff, while the third CD features many of his late-70s and 80s material ("I'm Still Standing"..."Mamam Can't Buy You Love"..."I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues",etc). So all three discs give you a complete collection of his biggest hits.

Oh yeah...that 2-CD set that came out in 2002 (Greatest Hits 1970-2002) is an excellent compilation as well.I bought it as a Christmas present for my sister that year.I don't really need it,since I already have those previously mentioned CDs plus the box set.But it's a superb compilation and,if I'm not mistaken,it comes with a bonus third disc containing several more rare songs.

there's a 2-CD compilation called "The Very Best Of Elton John" that came out in places outside the US (instead of To Be Continued, which was released elsewhere in 1991, i believe) that's very good. it's covers 1970-1990. it's an import in the US, but it's relatively easy to find. or at least it was prior to the release of the that 1970-2002 collection. AFIAK, there isn't a compilation that covers 1992 and on to any decent degree.
speaking of which.... i wonder why they didn't just make 1970-2002 a 3-CD set in the first place, since there are already so many versions with differing bonus discs. in the UK, they basically keep re-releasing the damn thing with more and more bonus tracks. starting it out as a 3-CD set in the first place would have been a lot more thorough, as the 80's & 90's get pretty short shrift on the standard 2-CD version.
