The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus....

.... omfg

I just watched this DVD, and it's fascinating viewing. My favourite segment has to be Taj Mahal, and The Dirty Mac set-up (Lennon, Clapton, Richards and Mitch Mitchell), despite Yoko desperately trying to communicate with dolphins. Oh, and the fact that everyone is TOTALLY moshed! The Stones set is 'alright', but it's more interesting considering the troubles the band were going through at the time - Jones got the boot soon after.

Lots of nice extra's including an informative interview with Townsend.

There's a whole cover story about that whole event in last months MOJO magazine, with tons of pictures, etc.

I'd like to see the DVD of it though. nod

Great movie, set-up, live acts and story... I heard somewhere that the Rolling Stones at first did not want to release the film under their name, rather give it to the Who for their riving performance. I guess they stole the show. The best part of the film for me was watching the individual performances of Moon, Clapton, Jones, Taj Mahal, and Ian Anderson. I did not really like seeing all those clowns on stilts, etc. I hate clowns.

lol yeah they were dumb. I hate clowns anyway, but those ones were just scarey AND crap. As were the trapese artists. The dude burning his feet was on the verge of crapness. Hmmm, I guess you REALLY did have to be on 10 kilos of acid to appreciate that....and wear those costumes you see in the audience lol

Didn't they give out hats and ponchos to the audience? How cool would that be to have been there and still have your hat and poncho to show people. nod

Don't get too excited. lol

No, I wasn't there. Not old enough. hrmph I am however busy building a time machine so I can go back and see all of my favorite bands play, among other things. batting eyes

I bought the Mojo magazine that has a big story all on the Rock and Roll Circus, and it mentions and has pictures of the hats and ponchos thing.

The funniest bit was when Yoko was trying to get the mike away from the violin guy...he didnt seem to want to let her near it... lol

The Stones rocked tho...I cant think why they sat on this for so long...

Yeah I know, although according to Townsend, Jagger must have been knackered throughout...on their last set I couldn't tell if it was lack of sleep or lack of reality that he was suffering biggrin
