Concrete Blonde-Bloodletting Anybody else love this album?
Seems to set the perfect mood for Halloween to me (especially the title track of course), if not just a great album on any other day of the week. If you've somehow never heard it-check it out it's well worth it. Hope everyone had a great Halloween. [Edited 11/1/04 1:40am]

I love that album too! It's a great one. The title song and "Joey" are classics.
Although, I am a big fan of "Still in Hollywood" I was walking down the street early this morning Past the graveyard, voices whisper to me. I was walking down the street, early this morning And the silver tears of rain hung from the leaves And I swear I heard the voices singing to me... Singing to the rhythm of the beat of my feet, I swear I heard the voices singing to me - Keep on, keep on, keep on. Still in hollywood! Oh wow! thought I’d be out of here by now. Still in hollywood! My, my I’m running on a wheel and I don’t know why I don’t know why. And on the bus today, I met the queen of l.a. - At least she said she was and who am I to say? She was sixty-five and full of life, She had purple-painted cheeks And glitter on her eyes And the troll on the corner, I flipped him a quarter And he looked at me and smiled. He wasn’t abused, he wasn’t confused, He had nothing to gain and less to lose in hollywood Oh wow! thought I’d be out of here by now. Still in hollywood! My, my I’m running like a rat and I don’t know why And so it’s three a.m., I’m out walking again. I’m just a spot on the sidewalk in a city of sin. He doesn’t give a fuck, he’s living under a truck. You know it coulda been me, guess it’s just my luck. But I swear I hear the voices singing to me - Keep on, keep on, keep on. Still in hollywood...

Tomorrow Wendy's going to die.....
Fantastic album! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I do! Great album! 'Bloodletting' is a classic!
I got into them in the early 90s - right before they broke up for awhile - (I was so sad when I'd heard that. It was like such bad luck on my part...discover a really great band that I really like and almost immediately, they break up. I'm so glad they're back together now.) There are so many songs I love by them (such as 'Joey', 'Happy Birthday', 'Tomorrow, Wendy' and 'Caroline') but one song I have always really liked especially is "Side of the Road". I just love the whole feel of that song.

Now I'm jealous-I would've loved to see them for this. I have a friend that saw them live circa Bloodletting as well. I love Vampire Song, but The Beast is probably my usual favorite. Sounds like I missed a great show.

Glad Concrete Blonde is still getting their due.

Ex-Moderator | I saw a reunion show of theirs a few years ago. Fun show. Sadly, I don't own anything by them but, suspiciously, I knew half the songs they played (Joey, the Wendy song, etc.)...
I may have to pick this up. |

Johnette has one of the greatest voices in rock. She is so underrated. Her voice sounds like whiskey and smoke, if they had a sound. Walking In London is another underrated album. Someday, 100 Games of Solitaire, their version of Everybody Knows and Little Wing, Mexican Moon, Close To Home, and all others mentioned show how powerful their catalogue is.
They have a double live cd out and a new one, Mojave. Desert/Coyote themed.

i saw Concrete Blonde on their last tour for the Group Therapy CD. They were pretty good, but LOUD. OMG, i was glad i had earplugs.
They played a pretty short set with alot of stuff from Group Therapy, but they did play a couple Bloodletting tracks: Joey and Tomorrow, Wendy (my favorite).
