Wood Brass & Steel (1976)Turbo Records Features Doug Wimbish , Skip McDonald Otis Stokes , and the rest of the crew that would become better known as the "Sugar Hill"Records house band, alsoTackhead, etc...
Turbo Records was owned by Sylvia Robinson, who would soon be known for Sugar Hill Records...

That was one of the P-funk spinoff albums... Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey and Glenn Goins's project...Slammin! ...I remember the radio used to play
Funk 'n' Roll (Dancin' In The "Funkshine").. P-vine had re-issued for a while in the 90's....

Nothing is gonna slip past paligap so i'm gonna deal with mostly classics...

Dyke and the Blazers (the original Funky Broadway)

Fatback Band (King Tim III)

The Mighty Imperials (Soul Buster)

Lyn Collins (Think - produced by JB, nuff said)

Buddy Miles Express (some of Buddy's best funk/R&B drumming)

Rufus Thomas (Breakdown, Do The Funky Chicken, Walking The Dog, etc. )

Fela (My Lady Frustration, Zombie)

Oneness Of Juju (Space Jungle Funk)

Osibisa (Music for Gong Gong, Akwaaba)

Eddie Harris (I Need Some Money, Get On Down)

Lonnie Liston Smith (Expansions)

Ronnie Laws (Always There, Nothing To Lose)

Roy Ayers (Runnin' Away - 12", Freaky Deaky, Searching, Vibrations, Everybody Loves The Sunshine, etc.)

Chuck Brown (Bustin' Loose, We Need Some Money)

The Bar-Kays (Holy Ghost)

Booker T. & The MG's

Jr. Walker and the All Stars (Shotgun, Road Runner, Shake and Fingerpop)

And last but certainly not least, going straight to the heart of the matter.
These 2 always stay within arms reach. The foundation and the exploration.

James Brown - On this record you get the pre-mutiny, fine-tuned, clock-work like '60s band featuring Maceo, Wesley, St.Clair Pinkney, Nolan and Sherrell (Mother Popcorn) as well as the post-mutiny, raw, new breed '70s band featuring young upstarts Bootsy and Catfish Collins (Give It Up or Turn It Loose). Priceless.

Herbie Hancock (Spank-A-Lee, Butterfly, Actual Proof and Palm Grease)
Funk unleashed by a master composer on stellar improvisers, pure and simple.
