Sweet Obsession!

I know this is going way back and into obsure R&B mode but does anyone remember this group or any of their songs? They were a trio of sisters and had a song called "gonna get over you". Does anyone know any more about them? Ever have any of their music?

I remember them...the group consisted of three sisters from Detroit. They used to go under the name "Greens 3" (Green is their last name) in the early 80's and I believed they changed it once they were signed to a major label. I remember the following songs:

Elevator

Gonna Get Over You

I know they released two albums under the name "Sweet Obsession" in the late 80's early 90's and if I'm not mistaken, they released one album under their original name "Greens 3".

Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

I would consider it to be up to midtempo. You can purchase their self titled CD and the other one entitled "Too" on amazon.com...unfortunately in the case of this group, sound bytes are not available for you to listen to. I have to pick up the Cds myself as I used to love a ballad they had out years ago but I can't remember the name of it. Both CD's are reasonable in price.

Does the album "Too" have "gonna get over you" on it or is it on another album? would you say they are in the same vein as Madame X? That's the kind of shit I seem to be into these days! biggrin

Gonna Get Over You in on their self titled album "Sweet Obsession". Elevator is on the album "Too". I would'nt put them in the same category as Madame X (they're different in my opinion - I remember seeing them sing live on some show years ago and they can sing). I only know of the three songs, I'm going to order both online and then I will come back to this thread and post my take on both albums. Following is the track listing for both albums:

Sweet Obsession "Too"

1. Elevator
2. Busted
3. Don't Play In The Traffic
4. Let Me Love You
5. I Depend On Me
6. It Tortures Me
7. Give Me All My Love Back
8. I Want To Know
9. Secret Society Of Love
10. I'm A Good Woman Looking For A Good Man

Sweet Obsession (self titled)

1. React
2. Cash Money
3. I Would Never Do You Wrong
4. Gonna Get Over You
5. Somebody Is Tapping
6. Take These Chains
7. Being In Love Ain't Easy
8. I Am A Girl (The Lonely One)
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight

It really puts a big smile on my face biggrin seein' some1 bring up Sweet Obsession. I'm the very proud owner of the Too album. Tho I'm a good woman lookin' 4 a good man is my fav'rite, all the ballads on there R just aaawesome (I'm not 2 impressed by the tempo trax). The album was produced by Calloway, Robert Brookins (any1 remembers him?), Gerald Levert & Lemel Humes. Girls mos' definately can sing, but they wouldn't stand a chance of gettin' a deal in the current recordin' industry. Hell, even ppl like Stephanie Mills & Johnny Gill can't get 1.(Stephie had 2 go indie) Other underexposed names of that good ol' time R Lisa Taylor & Modest Fok. Man, soul was still alive back then!!!

I'm a huge music fan of all music genres. I'm also working on my own music based website dedicated to music in general. I have so many ideas and multiple things to do before the site goes live (clearance on licensing issues etc). As far as being a deejay, I have one memorable experience. My mom's friend had a party and she knew I was heavily into music and asked me to dj her party, I told her that I had never dj'd a party before but I would try. I ended up using my very nice stereo system and using the dual cassette decks to go between tracks etc. (the sound was excellent because the songs were recorded from my cd collection and transferred on to tape...it would have been too much work to burn on to multiple cds as I was on a very tight schedule). During the party, people started coming up to me asking me for business cards and one lady asked me to deejay her daughter's wedding (what a compliment biggrin...I had never dj'd in my life and I just took the time to put the music together that I predicted her peer group would enjoy and everyone loved it biggrin. Not bad for a girl huh smile
