I wasn't sure if she was trying to be joan jett or gwen stefani...maybe if she didn't prance around from side to side she would have sounded better...even gwen has that one down! I don't know what else to say except we know who got the pipes in the simpson family.

Okay, I just saw her "answer to the critics" about the SNL incident and all I can say is WHAT A TWIT! DAMN but she comes across like a phony airhead!!

I thought she recovered her image as best she could.

She sung live, seemed confident,and showed a lot of personality.

Her voice was OK for rock (I mean you don't have to have a great voice for rock-- umm, but it would be nice if you could play a few instruments...).

Some lines were horribly hard on the ears, but all in all I thought it was a good performance for someone of her caliber. She did the best she could do. I commented to a companion during the show, that she has a voice only a fan could love


She obviously has been getting lessons in spin control. She's going to make all this publicity work in her favor. I mean she's going on the Today Show, she got all this attention tonight.


And she joked about the mishap at the start of her Radio City performance. That helped steal thunder from her critics.

I'm afraid she's gonna turn the tide in her favor for better or worse.

But maybe I spoke too soon .. I mean did you see the audience afterwards. A lot of people were blankfaced and didn't clap at all.

Surprisingly, no booing, though.

And that acid reflux thing - YEAHRIGHT, ASHLEE. She sounded sooooo insincere and rehearsed MOUTHING that excuse. I guess we can discount acting as another career possibility.

I just am so sick & tired of people spinning the facts and getting away with sh*t, and nobody really calling them on their lies. At least be honest about things when you get caught with your pants down the way she did on SNL.

Her managers made a good effort trying to revitalize her grunge image with that song and that dress though, but they're only humans.

I thought heads were gonna boo, but it seemed like it was an encouraging atmosphere (don't know how forced that was). I know when I went to the AMAs back in '98, there were applause monitors and canned applause (the collective high-pitched female "wooo" that I've been hearing on various shows since Star Search in '89).

Nevertheless, Ashlee can't sing -- live or lipsynched.
