Ashlee Simpson To Sing Live Again Tonight - Who's Watching?

Ashlee Simpson to Sing Live Again Tonight

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Singer Ashlee Simpson gets another chance to sing live — perhaps — on national television Monday after walking off "Saturday Night Live" in a does-she-or-doesn't-she lip-synch moment.

Simpson is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas for NBC's "Radio Music Awards," scheduled to be televised at 9 p.m. ET.

I'm watching for Janet. But hell, this is going to be the funniest Radio Music Awards in...oh, forever?

* I'll be watching because Beyonce and the girls will be there. Not crazy about their new song, but I love their chemistry and B is always a excellent stage performer.

* I'll be looking for Janet too (last time I saw her on stage was the BET awards and I didn't think that was so good)

* Lots of attention will be on Ashlee. This is her last chance for redemption

(hope her band hasn't abandoned her after she dissed them for no reason -- I sure would)

She better sing live with no backing aid or else the girl (who actually had a GREAT debut album with the help of the machine) has lost her career for good.

If she can pull off a good live act, more power to her. I like the girl and wish her well.

But if she can't ... there's really no argument why she should continue to leech off the industry. Throw her, britney, and J.lo out for good.

Not crazy about the synth orchestra hit from `89 on their song. It will be oddly refreshing to see the three together again.

I really hope she is performing too.

nod Alot is riding on tonight. I also expect that she sing live, and not just have the tape sync correctly this time.

The thing is, someone like Britney has been performing(miming) for over a decade (professionally on TV) so at least gets more respect for what she does.

She'll probably get booed off the stage. Which really would b insanely hypocritical, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I bet she still has the backing track! More spinning and minipulation....blowup

Maybe this will push majors to look at more real talent.disbelief

I'll be watching and I hope, besides actually singing, Ashlee has learned how to dance. That lurching around the stage of taking 4 steps forward and then four steps back (interspersed with intense looks of major ATTITUDE, MAN!) she did during her first song on SNL was embarrassing to watch. She couldn't even lurch around to the beat.

She was doing that for the first four seconds of the second performance, too. I was wondering, "WTF is that?" falloff

Just to let you know Beyonce and the rest of Destiny child uses backup tracks. So why not critize them.

Because:

a) We know they can actually sing. Have you heard Ashlee acoustic? Egads. barf That girl has no sense of pitch at all.

b) They WOULDN'T WALK OFF AND BLAME THE BAND.

c) She's a hypocrite. On lip synching: "I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me.”

Haha! I noticed that also. That lurching and stomping back and forth must be her signature move. razz That, and of course, that little 'hoedown' jig she pulled out of her a** before running offstage.

It looked like some sort of bizarre mating dance.

Along with the points VC made, another key point is Destiny's Child may use "backing" tracks that consist of additional vocal parts, not "lead vocal" guide tracks.
