Always Be My Baby - Mr. Dupri Mix (the SOS Band sample made that remix!)

Speaking of S.O.S. Band samples:

Hmmm...I'm sure I have plenty more, but a few Mariah tracks come to mind. She grates on me sometimes, but she knew how to put together a single - that's why she did so incredibly well in the singles charts. She also went in the studio to re-record the vocals which created an entirely different sound sometimes.

My All/Stay Awhile - So So Def Remix w/Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz
Fantasy - Def Club Mix
Always Be My Baby - Mr. Dupri Mix (the SOS Band sample made that remix!)

Yeah, she's one of the few artists who'd rerecord vocals for remixes. Her mixes wouldn't have been nearly as good without recut vocals (and, often, lyrics).

Definately

Madonna: Hollywood- Jaques Lu Cont's thin white duck mix

It almost became the original, using it for her tour, on the GAP promo cd and of course this infamous performance:

i do like it better, but i just wish it had a full vocal. one of my pet peeves is when a great remix doesn't have a complete (or semi-complete) vocal. or when a whole maxi-single is comprised of what were, in the late 80's and early 90's, referred to as "dub mixes" ... if you know what i mean.

they made Victor Calderone go and put the vocals back in American Pie after they released it and everyone complained. should be mandatory that if you're going to do a remix, do one that actually sounds like it's a song first, and then go off on a tangent with the non-vocal/looped-vocal shit.

they had to put out a 3rd CD single, with the lyrics restored.

Fever is techincally a B-side to Bad Girl never released... they made the video and included remixes to boost the sale of the Bad Girl single... the video version is not released on an offical single.

It was released as a single. Not in the USA, but it was released. Edit One is the video version.
