Are you serious? That's the second worst remix I've ever heard! The vocal isn't even remotely in synch with the music. It's like some just threw on an instrumental, without any regard to the vocal track at all. Keep your headphones on.

Janet-Black Cat (the remix on Design of a Decade with Nuno Bettencourt on guitar)
Not necessarily better but comes pretty damn close to me in terms of loving it: nine inch nails-closer to god (added guitars, different rhythm-it's like a new song.)

The "By Your Side" remix is on one of the Naked Music compilations that Miguel put out. They're always good, high class chill, pre-going out to a club or hip dinner party music. "Express Yourself" by Madonna (1989) ---The album version is flat compared to the superior 12" remix version, which adds more bass and more attitude.I was thrilled when Madonna made a second video for this song, using the remix. That video became more popular (and shown more often) than the regular video.
"Pink Cadillac" by Natalie Cole (1988)---the album version is nothing to write home about. But the remix version (which was used in the video) is spectacular! "Hot Thing" by Prince (1987) ---don't get me wrong, the album version is great, but this remix (which appeared on the B-side of the 'ICNTTPOYM' 12") is incredible. It received alot of radio airplay too.

It's like some just threw on an instrumental, without any regard to the vocal track at all. I love this mix. Yeah, her singing is detached from the music, but I liked the effect. It almost becomes errie spoken word over disorienting ambient music. It's less melodramatic than the original, but darker.

LOL anyone remember this CD?
I know this is supposed to be a "best of" of remixes, but I thought I would mention a complete stinker for the hell of it. There were some decent Maxi-Singles off Mary J Bliges first album. But for some reason, they took alot of the worst ones, and put them together into this hideous compilation. Her face looks like she was painted up by a mortician!

Hmmm...I'm sure I have plenty more, but a few Mariah tracks come to mind. She grates on me sometimes, but she knew how to put together a single - that's why she did so incredibly well in the singles charts. She also went in the studio to re-record the vocals which created an entirely different sound sometimes.

That's what I felt like doing when I bought Aaliyah's 'One In Million' CD and heard the inferior album version of "4 Page Letter" for the first time. I thought I wasted my money! Arrested Development's '3 Years, 5 Months And 2 Days...' was similar, but I think I already had the 12" of "People Everyday" so it didn't bother me as much.
