I heard the new one isn't very good. And those who love it are only trying to fool themselves into liking it because it's a new Cure album. The first songle didn't grab me at first but now I'm not so sure when I heard it somewhere on an ad.

Anxiety

i do think the latest album is kinda weak, but at the same time i can enjoy listening to it whereas i cannot abide listening to "high" or "wild mood swings". i think the latest cure album was made more for themselves than it was for mainstream pop consumption, and i think it's also a testament to the fact that the cure is getting up there in years - they still have somewhat of an edge, but at the same time, there's something kind of refined and oddly balanced to the newest album's sound.

is it "head on the door" or "kiss me"? heavens no. is it "disintegration"? oh, not even hardly! but i think there's a lot of sincerity in the latest album, and hearing that makes it a bearable listen to me.

No, not at all. I mean, the album is good, but nowhere near as good as their 80's works.

hmmm But you know, Fat-ass Bob did say that if you don't like the latest album, then you just don't like The Cure.....whatever that means. confused

But the new album doesn't sound like a typical Cure album. I'd pick Bloodflowers over the new one any day.

I agree-I absolutely love Bloodflowers, but the new one I listened to a couple times, and just haven't been in a hurry to repeat the experience.

Not horrible, just not up to par.

I still love "Pirate Ships" more than anything on the new one.

Join the Dots as well.

Hehehe. You really dislike it? I kinda like it. It is a bit of old Cure with some more guitar. It's different. It is easy to just want a new album to sound like their best old work, but that would be boring for The Cure as well as for you.

I love Lost.

In honor of this thread I will listen to Join The Dots AND the new album!

I also wasn't thrilled with the last album (never gave it much of a chance, though). Besides that, most everything else I've heard from them has been really good.

I don't like the new album much at all, but it's not because i want them to sound like 1989; i don't.

lost and teotw are great, but the best songs on the album are not included in the u.s. pressing.

"going nowhere" is beautiful! why, why, why (are you letting me go she said.....oops sorry) why wasn't it included in american pressings?

Join the dots = the box set i've been hoping for, for ages!

"it's got to be jazz, that's what she wants...."

The US version is different? Why's that? I think the album is definitely a grower, plus it's a much more coherent effort than "Wish" and "Wild Mood Swings". "Bloodfowers"? At least it was as good as a tired-sounding album about being tired is ever likely going to get.
