Man, I gotta go throw that one on the box! Haven't listened to Bernie's All The Woo In The World" in a while... That's still his best album..." The Other Side" is probably second, for me... co-sign that "Woo" is his best but I just own 3 ("The other side" and "Funk of Ages" being the other ones). are there any other of his solo works I should most definitely get my hands on? Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy! | |

IMO, those two (All the Woo and Other Side) Are his essentials! I like some of the live stuff with the Woo Warriors, but, to me, the other albums like Free agent, Blackatronic Science and Funk of Ages aren't that hot... You know, I saw this review for this one record by this group from back in the day called "The Sam Brothers 5". They were a sibling act and apparently, Zydeco/Cajun's answer to The Jackson 5. The review said that they were a Disco/Funk/Zydeco band, so I was hoping to hear something innnovative. But nooooo, nearly all of the songs were just straight up, traditional Cajun/Zydeco. In fact, the only funky track was their theme song, which basically rips of Chic's "Freak Out". But they call it, S.A.M. (Get Down!) We all agree that the british did a lot for Rock and Pop music but when it comes to funk, except for Average White Band, Brian Auger and Heatwave, there's no other sound the one coming from U.S.A !

Well, it might not be raw, monster funk, but if you're gonna include Heatwave, then there's Sweetback, Loose Ends, Soul II Soul, Level 42, Brand New Heavies,Jamiriquai, Central Line, etc...as well as Incognito...from the British...
