I've yet to hear the new album but I am really digging Join The Dots. I never thought of the Cure as a band who had great B-Sides, guess I was wrong. I also have to defend Wild Mood Swings. I got that one for $0.99 and it was definitely worth it.

The US version is different? Why's that?

there are four different versions of this album:

american pressing -- 11 tracks
british pressing -- 12 tracks
japanese pressing -- 14 tracks
vinyl pressing -- 15 tracks

So those of us here in the united states got the bone. I bought the american version and downloaded the extra 4 songs. those 4 songs are, in mine, and alot of other people's opinion, some of the best songs on the album.

for those of you who don't know, the extra songs are:

Going Nowhere
Fake
This Morning
Truth, Goodness & Beauty

These songs are not all just tacked onto the end of the cd like "bonus tracks" ... they are mixed & scattered throughout the album, as part of the album.

I encourage all of you who haven't heard these songs, to seek them out immediately.
Keep your headphones on.

Sounds good. Are those offered on those various internet services that charge you for songs, or what?

I do not know. http://thecure.com sells a lot of their songs for like a buck each, you can check that out, i guess. I feel no shame in the fact that i downloaded the extra four songs. I paid my cash for the cd, and it wasn't the band's decision to gyp the american fans, it was geffen. Robert said so.

I'm in San Francisco, but I heard it on an internet station www.radioparadise.com. So the good news is you too can tune in. Y'all should check it out. No commercials and they simultaneously show the playlist.

Although i would consider myself a Cure-Fan I hated the new Album on first listen and I still do. It just sounds old and uninspired. Its a shame that the best of the new songs were left off the album.
As I write this I am listening to "Pornography". THAT was a really great record.

there are three songs I really like on the new album, and the rest just doesn't stick with you, I like I don't know what's going on for the simplicity, Before Three and I really like taking off even if it is a Cure by the numbers just like heaven rip

Hey, this my thread and I can do what I want. tease

See, the thing about the new album is that it is very intense and emotion-driven. The guitars and shit only enhance that feel. I don't think we've seen this side of The Cure in a while.

The only good track on there was the hit, "The Caterpillar".

i burned my own version of the new Album, with different, darker art-work, and adding all the b-sides... (i used the single version of alt.end so it would fit on an 80 minute disc). It's amazing how much better it is..

Am I the only one who is affected by an album's artwork?

Anyway - the fact that it has no title really causes the album to lack an identity, imo. YOUR GOD IS FEAR would have been a great title, and that is what I named my version. The song sounds like a title-track, imo.... just does.

This track listing really works, and makes it a very edgy, dark, brooding complete album.... i'm really digging it now, but I also think part of it is that I'm listening to it more and really paying attention. I wish the keyboards were more prominent... but there are some really top-notch Cure songs on this disc.

1. lost
2. labyrinth
3. your god is fear
4. before three
5. truth goodness and beauty
6. end of the world
7. anniversary
8. us or them
9. alt.end
10. fake
11. i don't know what's going on
12. taking off
13. why can't i be me?
14. never
15. the promise
16. going nowhere
17. this morning

i dig the Top... i like Shake Dog Shake, The Empty World, Bananafishbones, the title song, Piggy in the Mirror.... actually I dig all the tracks, except maybe for Give Me It. I think the Top was a necessary bridge between the Japanese Whispers-era stuff, and the more fully realized Cure sound which began with the Head on the Door.

Yeah. It's like a 6 year old drew it or something. At least it's still original.

I love it too. Japanese Whispers is the one that seems out of place. I guess maybe cuz it's a collection of singles and b-sides. But it makes very little sense between Pornography and The Top. The Top for the most part seems like a more deranged extension of the sound and themes they were going for on Pornography. Other than Dressing Up and The Caterpillar, it's a very dark album.

me! me!

In fact, i wish a Perfect Murder and Mr. Alphabet Says had been used for the Top or Japanese Whispers - they would have been perfect for either. And New Day was really a Glove song that ended up released as a Cure songs, so.....

But yeah - Blue Sunshine is very rad. I love Sex Eye Make Up.... totally demented.
