Gwen Stefani. Album cover and article. Missy,Outkast, & Duran Duran

Album due out 23 November 2004

STEF JAM!

GWEN STEFANI is set to team up with OUTKAST and MISSY ELLIOTT for her forthcoming solo debut - but DURAN DURAN are just waiting for their invitation.

Despite the solo record still being classed as 'work in progress' with no plans for release as of yet, OutKast and Elliott are both encouraged by the No Doubt singer's open-mindedness in exploring new musical directions.

"I think the album will sound totally different than her No Doubt stuff," OutKast 's Andre 3000 said. "And that's cool. Step out and do something new sometime. It could be interesting."

Big Boi described the music as "kinda like mid-tempo, like OutKast ". He added: "But something you wouldn't normally hear her on. ... you just submit something that you think might cause them to switch to something new, something where they don't do their usual on it, something where they sound a little different. Give it to her and see how she's freaking it and (how) she brings it back."

The hip-hop duo also revealed details of one track 'Long Way To Go', initially intended for Andre's solo record - forming half of OutKast 's forthcoming album, 'Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'.

Written about interracial relationships, Andre said: "We thought it would be a cool concept, talking about a girl that didn't have the same colour as your skin, but it's a cooler concept for her album."

Elliott revealed that although there are no finished tracks yet, she is currently talking about concepts with Stefani.

The rapper told MTV News: "She came down to the studio and we vibed instantly, worked out a couple of ideas," she said. "But she's still figuring out her direction, so I'm waiting on her at the moment."

"When we get together, when she does this record, it's not going to be just another record," she added. "It's going to be an event."

Eighties New Romantic pioneers Duran Duran have also hinted that they would like to work with Stefani in the near future. Singer Simon Le Bon said: "That stuff is always going to be in the cards. That's usually a matter of luck and people's schedules being able to allow it."

Guitarist Andy Taylor said: ""It also has to work musically. We're not just going to bring someone in because they're Gwen Stefani ..."

Le Bon quipped: "Oh, I would!"

The song that Gwen recorded with Duran Duran is called "Nobody's Business",but alas,it didn't make the final tracklist.Maybe it will be used for a future B-side?

I'm glad this made you giggle, cuz I thought the very same thing when I read it. Any reference to "package" or "box" sends me into giggling fits. Yes, I'm that mature.
