GREATEST THIRD ALBUMS

This might seem like a ridiculous thread (and might have been done already) but during a long road trip this past weekend, a friend and I had a discussion about the greatest debuts and sophomore releases. For fun, we decided to focus on the greatest third albums by various artists. We were quite shocked at the masterpieces that ended up on the list. Check it out and add:

Prince - DIRTY MIND
PJ Harvey - TO BRING YOU MY LOVE
Radiohead - OK COMPUTER
Nirvana - IN UTERO
U2 - WAR
Bruce Springsteen - BORN TO RUN
The Police - ZENYATTA MANDATTA
The Clash - LONDON CALLING
Blondie - PARALLEL LINES
Public Enemy - FEAR OF A BLACK PLANET
Beastie Boys - CHECK YOUR HEAD
Madonna - TRUE BLUE
Janet Jackson - CONTROL
Soundgarden - BADMOTORFINGER
Chic - Risque
Pixies - DOOLITTLE (if you count COME ON PILGRIM AS #1)
Jane's Addiction - RITUAL DE LO HABITUAL
Massive Attack - MEZZANINE
Lenny Kravitz - ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY?
Smashing Pumpkins - MELLON COLLIE AND THE INFINITE SADNESS
Smiths - QUEEN IS DEAD
Tribe Called Quest - MIDNIGHT MARAUDERS
Velvet Underground - THE VELVET UNDERGROUND
The Stooges - RAW POWER
Pretenders - LEARNING TO CRAWL

RocknRollDave

Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible.

Not only a great third album, but, for my money, a serious contender for best album ever recorded. This album stunned and shocked me when I heard it ten years ago on its release, and still stands as an amazing, dare I say it, work of art.

If you haven't heard this album, approach with caution, as it is very hard-going and a very sombre listen, but your patience will be rewarded.

"BAD" is not MJ's third solo lp!!

Now that we've established that...

Outkast-Aquemini

Ice Cube-Death Certificate

Prince-Dirty Mind

Janet-Control

Kirk Franklin-The Nu Nation Project (omitting the Christmas cd and God's Property)
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
