your favorite musical decade

I have listened to samplings of music from almost every era.I just think that the '70's were an incredibly fertile time for great music. This is my favorite musical decade and the "80's being second. The sixties are very close behind . There was such a freedom in all the music. There was real pain and real sexuality and real excitement. It was alive. The grooves expanded and styles merged until you didn't even know what the hell you were listening to,but it was fantastic. There was so much expansion. There was so much passion.Who can listen to BROTHER to BROTHER or THRUST or ALLnALL and not picture tehmselves on a beach in linen pants with a joint and a nice drink and alive with the sweet smell of the cutie girl(or dude for some) you're holding hands with and not get a warm buzz in their crotch? Damn! The seventies were the shit!!!Long hair and an open world is how I picture that. The future world was a far off dream away. For now,we make love. And so I make love to this music.

The seventies even had some of my fave movies like Jaws,Godfather,Coolie High, and many other classics(blackenstein, anyone?)

60's. The music from that time has incredible energy. You can feel the unrest in the world and the vital role music played. It expresses and embodies true revolution.

I'd have to say the 90's. Even though I don't think they're necessarily the best, they were so formative in what I listen to today. There was as much crap and as much good as any other time, but from the years of about '91-'95, I grew out of my childhood tastes and still am that person.

I can't choose just one decade. I have favorites from all eras.

I heart the '80s, the '90s, the '60s and even the '00s.

I'm enjoying the music that's out now in my current generation.

Favorite Decade:

1967-1977...

...Starts with Are You Experienced and Sgt. Pepper, and ends with Steely Dan's Aja and Parliament's Funkentelechy vs The Placebo Sybndrome...

Second favorite decade:1978-1988 (IMO, Prince's best decade...)

The 60's because I'm from Detroit and there were some slammin' tracks coming from Hitsville USA back in the day. Quite a few artists were doing their thing as well.
The 80's because that was a decade where music was free. No one was scared to take chances and there was always something new, fresh and exciting happening. Not to mention you didn't hear the same 6 songs being played over and over like most stations do now.

Word - 1991 especially, being such a formative year in the death of metal as well as its great last gasp, the birth of grunge, and the full emergence of mainstream hip-hop to the white kids.

The 70's were the shit for soul music,

Marvin Gaye had,,, What's going On and Let's get it on during this decade.
James brown made his first come back in the early seveties with the Big Payback, Sex Machine, and SOul Power.
Curtis Mayfield Graced us With Superfly and all of his productions on other artist.
Parliment and Funkadelic got started in the late 70's as well as Prince.
Al green introduced us to Southern Soul.
Aretha, Glady's Night and pattie Labelle were more creative during this decade.
And let's don't forget about Earth Wind and Fire, the Commodors, Teddy Pendergrass.

think I can Stop there???? Nope!

How about Barry White and Issac Hayes
Stevie wonder did his greatest albums in the 70's

I could go on. It's definitely the best time for soul music.

It's been downhill every since.
