Nine Inch Nails

Is there anyone else here who are into them?. Because Ive been a big follower of Reznors work from as far as I can remember. Also it should be noted on the influence that Prince had on him, in terms of the go-it-alone approach and of course musically. Also its worth going to the official site (www.nin.com) becuase there are some cool downloads of live tracks on there cool .

I still drool when I think of how close Reznor came to remixing Prince's "Loose". What a missed opportunity.

I used to like the beat for "Closer" and the video was weird, too.

Until Trent releases another album, Manson is paying his bills. Who else is signed to Nothing Records these days?

Trent's gonna have alot of legal bills to pay, and it doesn't look like Nothing Records has a future. Hmm confused Maybe Marilyn Manson's greatest hits package can get him a good lawyer wink

Nah, I'm sure he isn't exactly broke. Hopefully he can get that stuff sorted out AFTER he finishes working on Bleedthrough though. Looks like it's gonna be while before the Reznor-Malm situation is settled.

So anyway..I'm a big fan..love all of Trent's work. Fav album has to be The Downward Spiral. Looking forward to Beeldthrough & Closure on DVD..

A lot of good but very much obscure artists (e.g: Pop Will Eat Itself, The The to name but a few) smile.

I remember when those bands had hits-- "X, Y & Zee," "Uncertain Smile," etc. Whatever happened to 12 Rounds?

Yeah... I still can't get over how ridiculous his legal problems are! How many other artists are there out there that did this same thing? Its for reasons like that that I appreciate Prince's outspokenness with respect to the music industry.

I partly feel sorry for Trent, the other part of me just thinks... "what the fuck were you smoking?"
Change it one more time..

I'm a huge nine inch nails fan. Have all the halos, remixes, many bootlegs-I saw them live in 95 wtih Bowie on the Outside tour.

I've been a fan since the first album, and Trent's definitely one of my favorite artists.

He continues to challenge himself and I think he's still very underrated.

I hope bleedthrough comes out as soon as possible.

Can't wait for the Closure DVD set to come out this fall, and The Downward Spiral5.1 CD set to come out as well.

I guess I'm hooked.

Trent was passing Prince in the hallway once and when he tried to say hello to him, Prince just ignored him and walked on by. I think at one time they were supposed to work on something together.

Yup, check this out. From an interview done in '94..

"I'll tell you a funny story about Prince. I was in this studio and I heard Prince was coming in. There was a time I thought he was awesome, but what a fucking creep! The rules were, you were never to say the word 'Prince', you had to write down that symbol. You were never to look at him, or talk to him unless he approached you first, shit like that. So he shows up in a limo, wearing a fluorescent pink jumpsuit, giant hair, a cane, huge heels and a lollipop."

"And he's wearing the worst women's perfume you've ever smelt. So he's got two giant bodyguards with him and there was nobody there who was gonna fuck with him! It turns out he wanted us to remix a track and make it harder--apparently he had Broken in his car for a long time. So then I see him at the other end of this hundred yard corridor, and there's only me and him walking towards each other. So we're getting closer, closer and...he walks right past me. I couldn't believe it, I don't care who you are, that's bullshit."

Hmm confused Would have been cool to hear a collaboration.

I think Prince was an influence on Trent, and you can hear it more on the first album (which is my favorite one) Pretty Hate Machine, which sounds like a description of Prince.

Trent openly acknowledged Prince's influence on the song "Closer".

I totally believe that story about the Trent/Prince confrontation. Prince was going through his weird phase--or at least weirder than usual phase--at the time. The hair, the name change, the lollipops (ecstasy?)--so strange.

Thnking about it I wonder since Prince has seemingly managed to find his own ground again and if they ever ran into each other again. Do you think that Prince would be at least be a little more hospitable?. Just a thought.

Two notable examples on there would be 'Terrible Lie' and 'The Only Time' which could have musically passed for Prince tracks.

Very much so. Although on an updated note they are apprantly no longer with Nothing Records. Due to problems with Nothings mother label Interscope but they do have their own label: 'Lazarus Limited'.
