I've been listening to them for a couple of years now and they just completely blow me away... the intensity of their sound, the lyrics, everything!

I could listen to songs like Sister Ray, I Can't Stand It, Heroin, Foggy Notion, Run Run Run, European Son etc. all day.

Prince is my favourite buy imho VU are probably the finest rock n'roll/pop band ever, particularly their early lineup that included John Cale and Mo Tucker. Though I still adore Loaded.

I just recently got into them. I only have the album with Nico, (with the Warhol bananna). but I loved it. I was leary of picking up the rest of their albums because I'm not a major Lou Reed fan, and I didn't know what to get next.

I LOVE driving around aimlessly on a Fall day with my camera, listening to Femme Fatale and I'll Be Your Mirror...

yah, VU has some good stuff. nico's solo work is really nice too. and if you haven't heard lou reed's album "berlin", do yourself a favor and find it.

When I first discovered Andy Warhol years and years ago, I became obsessed with reading everything about him and his life which in turn, led me to discovering The Velvet Underground, for which Im very thankful!

VU has some of the greatest lyrics ever.

Have you ever seen the documentary Nico Icon? It's interesting, and they talk to John Cale and he even plays Nico's song 'Frozen Warnings' on the piano (IIRC. It's been some time since I've seen it)

Anyway, another VU fan here.

They're pretty cool, but the production is terrible. Almost unlistenable in places. I guess that's part of the appeal, but it doesn't make me wanna drag their albums out that often.

I like them , but sometimes they sound really off key (Nico to ,not to mention her german accent) and their instrument playing skills aren't all that either.
But some of their songs are beautiful.

i like them. i think the hype around them has more to do with image than anything else but i get into some of their stuff nonetheless.

another thing for VU fans...check out stereolab's delicious album "emperor tomato ketchup" if you like the VU sound - it's very very very much influenced by their style, only quite a bit slicker and even a bit danceable!

I've been into The Velvet Underground since I was 13. It's also cool that Lou Reed digs my father's group. Funny how things work out.

One of my favorites for years. Their 2nd album takes a 90 degree turn in terms of songs like Sister Ray & Lady Godiva's Operation & the creepy The Gift . So if you like more of their tamer stuff go for their album Loaded.

My dad's group was in the 60's to early 70's. It was a soul duo called Eddie And Ernie and was one of the only duo's to write their own material. They were very popular in England and longtime fans includes Lou Reed and David Bowie. Eddie Campbell, who was my father, was the lead vocalist and main songwriter. They have a compilation out now titled "Lost Friends" which was released in 2002 on the Kent label. They also have their own web page u can visit. U have to type in www.soulwalking.co.uk. I was listening to the remasters of their first album and White Light/White Heat the other day and they sound a lot better than I remembered.

I'm a considerable fan. I've got their boxset which has remasters of their 4 albums and bonus tracks and some demo stuff. My very first roommate got me into them when he came home one day with some new vinyl and said, Carrie I've got your theme song here and played me "AfterHours" with Mo on vocals. I was hooked from there on out. I can't think of a prettier love song than Pale Blue Eyes. And I love the whole scene they came from. Were I to have grown up during that era I would've identified way more with the New York Warhol art scene than the west coast acid tripping hippy scene.
