If u were here I think it was last week, then u woulda found out that virtually everyone who replied to a Al b related thread hated him! ? why really, I liked his voice and backing vox was too smooth.....I like "nite and day" (the song) best of course.....as 4 fav Al b album, I go with his second one.....(i also have the underated and barely known "sexy vs" album he did in 1992!)

I really liked this album...."Killing Me Softly" was my jam! "Naturally Mine", "Just A Taste Of Lovin'", I liked them, too!

Loved Off on Your Own Girl...Loved Al, too until I met him and found him to be quite rude and arrogant.

This is a really good CD that I can pop in, listen back to front and enjoy. I bought it just for "Off On Your Own" and then realized he is also the guy that sings "Night And Day". Good album. Haven't really gotten into his second one, which I found in a bargin bin.

I was Al B. Sure crazy back in the day. I loved his debut album (I own the vinyl and the CD). I will agree with the majority, he is far from being a great singer but he has catchy songs and he pinned songs for other artist as well (I love his production)

Usher - The Many Ways
Tevin Campbell - Goodbye
Tevin Campbell - Alone With You
Tevin Campbell - Confused
Tevin Campbell - Just Ask Me To
The Gyrlz - If It's Games You're Playing
Alyson Williams - Can't Have My Man (I love this song)

I also like the following collabo's he appears on:

Black Tie White Noise - David Bowie
Somebody For Me - Heavy D and The Boyz
You Can Call Me Crazy - Guy (I'm not sure but I swear I hear him on this track)
If I'm Not Your Lover (the remix with Slick Rick) original is on "In Effect Mode"
As Long As We're Together - Al Green

He also had some nice cuts on Private Times and the Whole 9 and Sexy Verses:

Right Now
I Don't Wanna Cry
No Matter What You Do (duet with Diana Ross)
Die for You
U&I
So Special
Misunderstanding
Had enuf? (*the video version) is better than the album version
Touch You

He was also instrumental in Jodeci's debut album, Heavy D and The Boyz "Big Tyme and "Living Large" projects.

Al B. is mos definately on You Can Call Me Crazy. The remix for Missunderstanding was hot. I've been looking for it for a long time. The video had the remix version and remember how they danced their asses off?

I know his voice too well, I knew it had to be him, he's not singing a single note, but he's more or less humming through the song while Timmy Gatling is singing actual "lyrics". Check ebay, I was able to find the maxi single for Had enuf? that I had been looking for for ages, the album version does'nt compare to the remix/video version. As far as the dancing, the dance routine was nice but Al on the other hand should have left the dancing alone, that's definitely not his forte eek

lol I normally bite my tongue when it comes to a bunch of things as well, but I felt the need to point the dancing thing out. I believe God blessed us all with at least one talent and in the case of Albert Bernard Brown, dancing was not one. biggrin

I always thought the Al Green track "as long as we're together" was a Teddy production? Maybe it is? I gotta find my copy, I love that tune!

When I stated collabo's, I meant songs that Al sang on (whether it was a duet or background vocals). As far as the production, not sure if Teddy Riley produced it. I know the production screams "Al B. Sure".

How funny. I just re-bought this cd recently for the 3rd time. I love this album. It is just perfect. They just don't make me like this any more. "off on your own" is the shit!

U guys made me go to Launch.com and see if "misunderstanding" vid was there, and guess what/ It was.....I only vaguely remembered the vid.....I love the vid, memeories 4 sure (ha!) and Al's dancing was average but not bad.....some neat moves, never saw Keith Sweat or babyface dance so 4 a primary balladeer he's an alright dancer! He ain't no Hammer though (but then who was?)
