Well let's see...
Seeing as I used to play the trumpet, I guess I would have to say when it came to influences it would've been first and formostWynton Marsalis. I remember being captivated by the sound when my dad brought home this album... Secondly, it would've been Miles Davis & Roy Hargrove Now, considering that I no longer play and have always sung, vocally my influences have been... The one and only Stevie Wonder. As I've stated numerous times before, Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants was the first album I remember being captivated by learning the whole thing backwards and forwards...so much my family had to hide the album from me. Secondly, my other influences would be Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Al Green, Rance Allen and The Clark Sisters.

Being a multi instrumentalist, I'm influenced by Prince in that regard. As a lyric writer, Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Ani DiFranco, and Elvis Costello, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum. Musically, I'm influenced by punk and indie rock bands like the pixies as well as some poppier acts like Matthew Sweet. Mainly though it's other local musicians just trying to one up each other!

Man, it's hard to remember everyone....well, First of all, I really just fart around on guitar and Bass ( played woodwinds throughout school), but these are the people whose music (directly or indiredtly)inspired me to want to pick up an instrument in the first place.....
Narada Michael Walden- all the compositions on his first few albums featured the guitar , so much so that I originally thought HE was a guitarist...through him, I learned more about Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Ray Gomez, and Hiram Bullock, and also about David Sancious, whom Narada would feature regularly... Ernie Isley Mark King Mark Adams Marcus Miller Chuck Rainey Anthony Jackson James Jamerson Stevie Wonder Buddy Miles Jimi Hendrix Wayne Shorter Maurice White/Larry Dunn Eddie and George Del Barrio Joe Zawinul Jaco Pastorius Joe Sample Donny Hathaway Bernie Worrell Bernard Wright Eddie Hazel Mike Hampton Bootsy Collins David T Walker Bernard Edwards/ Nile Rodgers Rufus/ Chaka Khan Stanley Clarke Patrice Rushen Steve Washington Cordell " Boogie Mosson Rodney"Skeet "Curtis Pat Metheny Lyle Mays Todd Rundgren Dexter Wansel Wes Montgomery Marvin Gaye Wayne Johnson Larry Carlton Russell Ferrante Jimmy Haslip Bill Berg William Kennedy Herbie Hancock Kit Walker Steve Khan Michel Colombier Donald Fagen/ Walter Becker Ryuichi Sakamoto Jean Paul Bourelly Peter Erskine George Duke Luther Vandross/ Nat Adderly Jr. Lenny White Ronnie Laws Joni Mitchell Tower of Power Rickie Lee Jones Brenda Russell Allan Holdsworth Wally Badarou Mike Mainieri John Scofield Charles Stepney Dave Gruisin Thom Bell Quincy Jones Skip Scarborough Paddy Macaloon Nik Kershaw James Taylor Dori Caymmi Sergio Mendes Djavan Ivan Lins Jonatha Brooke Thomas Dolby Curtis Mayfield Burt Bacarach Hefner( Lee Jones) Vince Mendoza Rod Temperton Chris Dedrick Miles Davis Gil Evans Ennio Morricone Henry Mancini Aaron Copland Claude Debussy Maurice Ravel [Edited 9/20/04 20:11pm] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

I've always loved music, always made up tunes when I was little. Lots of my friends had pianos in their homes and took piano lessons. I never got any, but I LOVED listening to them play. I couldn't tell you the composers... all I know is that one of my friends would play the Blue Danube and some Scott Joplin and I would love to watch his hands.
I always loved art assingments in elementary school. I also remember some poetry assignments. When I was 14 I discovered Duran Duran and decided I wanted to be creative with music. So here is my list: Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran/Arcadia Keyboard/Synthesist) Simon LeBon (Duran Duran/Arcadia Vocalist/Lyricist) Sting Tori Amos Bjork Terrance Trent Darby The Doors Madonna Prince Living Colour Sheila E Sade Vivaldi Elliot Goldenthal Alanis Nirvana Nine Inch Nails Ruby Deee-Lite Depeche Mode Steve Vai Jai Uttal And many more!
