BUDDY X (Neneh Cherry ) a diss to Lenny Kravitz?

Is it true that Neneh Cherry's Buddy X is about Lenny Kravitz when he was cheatin' on Lisa Bonet? Did Neneh and Lenny ever date? Who was Neneh in this whole situation?

BUDDY X
Call yourself a family man
Talking 'bout the families plan
To bring the sweet talk deep and down
Works better than an average pick up line
You put your woman out to pasture
On the promises you gave her last year
Peace and love is on your head
And the grass is greener playing 'round
Your family seed is what you spread
Chorus:
Buddy my friend
Who you think you fooling

Buddy my friend
And what about your woman
Buddy my friend
Who you think you fooling
Buddy my friend

I don't care what you do
But there's a hypocrite that lives in you
Cause if your woman gave her love
In the same way that you do
You'd feel a-way
You know you would

Chorus

Buddy my friend
Treat her that way
And you'll be x-d soon
Buddy x-d soon
Let the rain come down...17 days....

I be damn if you were'nt reading my mind. I was going through some of my old videos and came across Buffalo Stance with Neneh Cherry. I was going to post this same topic. Lenny even talked about the song on VH1. He said he used the name Buddy X to check into hotels while he was on tour with Neneh. Neneh wrote it because he was cheating on Lisa Bonet during their marriage with groupies. She pretty much said Lenny was a hypocrite, preaching one thing and doing another. Neneh is married and she witnessed him cheating on Lisa while on tour with groupies.

Yes, Buddy X is a Diss song to Lenny Kravitz (If I'm not mistaken The Notorious B.I.G was on that song too or just maybe the remix). During the Let Love Rule days Lenny would check in to hotels as Buddy X. Neneh a good friend of Lisa Bonet saw him with other women. so she did the song about him. THe Mama Said album was his attempt to win Lisa Bonet back.

Yup, in the liner notes, before the lyrics to "Always on the Run," it says "TO LISA." Or is it "FOR LISA." You get the point.

P.S. "Buffalo Stance" still rocks, although the "tambourine" is a little much. so is the "funky sax."

There is a remix with Notorious B.I.G...I've heard it many times.

First off, yes. Buddy X is about Lenny's cheating

Second, no. Lenny and Lisa Bonet are not a couple. They ARE good friends who have a child together.

Last, Lisa Bonet changed her name to Lilliquoi Moon a while back. She still uses Lisa Bonet professionally (like TTD with Sananda).

Yep, someone has their facts straight nod. I think it's great that Lenny and Lisa have such a close relationship. It will definitely help their daughter to know her parents respect each other and are friends. I'm not sure what's up with her name change rolleyes - whatever floats her boat I guess.
