where life begins - madonna's most fabulous hidden gem I say hidden because this amazing song is off her Erotica album
which is by no means her best or most popular. Although it is somewhat underated. Anyway, I was wondering how popular it is amongst other Madonna fans here... I really feel it's one of her best songs ever and simply adore her sultry and oh so sexy vocals on it.

i love the erotica album and the bedtime story album...that era of madonna can do no wrong by me.

I don't care much for this song (although I love most of the Erotica album). It's too obvious for me. It may be sordid but it's dirty sordid and not sexy sordid to me.

as a joke, this song is fun. i just don't think madonna meant it as a joke. i think she was truly trying to be provocative and sexy...it doesn't work for me. waiting is a far more sexy track and that's because it is subtle.

i think it's pretty evident that she did, judging by the lyrics and delivery. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

i think it's pretty evident that she did, judging by the lyrics and delivery. nah...i think she was doing her best at trying to shock and provoke. remember, she was very insistent, at the time, that this was all very real for her and important to her work "as an artist." a dyslexic edit. This is one of my least favorites from "Erotica" but it's not bad. It's rated very highly by Madonna fans, though.

Same. I think "Waiting" is much more sensual, and probably my favorite song on the album (I love those Joe Tex drums, and Tom Scott loop).

"Waiting" does rule, but I think the real hidden gem on that album is "Secret Garden".

LAP thru Erotica were probably some of the best years. I don't think she takes herself to seriously... look at the performaces of Material Girl during Blonde Ambition or Like a Virgin for Girlie Show. Also alot of her monologues during the tours were poking fun at herself. I think she just takes her artistic statements seriously. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Colonel Sanders says it best
"Finger lickin' good" Let's put what you've learned to the test Can you make a fire without using wood Are you still hungry; aren't you glad we came I'm glad you brought your raincoat I think it's beginning to rain THis was Madonna's dirtiest song, not my favorite on Erotica but i always imagined her doing a video for it. My idea for the video is her and her girlfriend at a long dining room table, each of them sitting at each end. And Madonna starts singing the song or whatever and at the end they shove all the dishes on the floor and the have sex on the dining room table.

Interesting...I'd have thought that would be Like a Prayer by a long shot. Maybe that's just the critics favourite but I know a lot of Madonna fans who worship that album. My favourites are Ray of Light, The First Album and LAP as well.

"colonel sanders says it best.... finger lickin' good." yes, i'm quite sure she meant the song to be funny. shock and provoke? possibly. but if that was the primary motivation for putting the song out, she would have left it with its original title "Eating Out".... "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

as for her most fabulous hidden gems, i'd go with Till Death Do Us Part, Intervention, White Heat, Something To Remember, Thief Of Hearts, and Gone "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

This song just sizzles! I love the jazzy intro, and the piano flourishes throughout. It's a really sexy song, but just like the 'Sex' book,it's ultimately more comical/tongue in cheek than outright erotic, proving that Madonna has a sense of humor and doesn't take herself too seriously.

i think it's pretty evident that she did, judging by the lyrics and delivery. I agree.I really think that Madonna intended this song to be somewhat of a joke....a sexy, shocking, tongue in cheek song that would raise a few eyebrows. The lyrics are hilarious....it's almost as if she's poking fun at the very idea of oral sex...lol...
