co-sign that nod It's a shame that that's the only way he can gain "radio" play and get new fans. I prefer the original stuff like I don't Like the Drugs...and Beautiful People.

I tried to be open minded with Marilyn Manson when I heard people say that he worshipped the Devil. I remember people saying the same thing about KISS back in the day but I haven't heard any of their songs that prove it true.

I gave Marilyn the same benefit of the doubt and bought the album with "Dope Show" on it. I remember a song with lyrics like "God is just a statistic". I enjoyed some of the music but the lyrics scared me. I worried about the sake of my soul if I kept it. I am not a religious fanatic by no means but I thought that was going a little too far. I took it to a CD Trade Center and traded it for a different CD.

I'm pretty much a person that says anything goes.....the wilder the better.....but I don't play around when it comes to pissing God off.

nod Agreed. His is kind of an Alice Cooper, David Bowe, and Ozzy Osborne ripoff.

Manson doesn't do the same things these guys do. Just because he's dark and wears makeup, that doesn't mean he's trying to copy anyone. It's the same as saying Prince is ripping off of Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, etc.

Yup, it's exactly the same thing. And you'd be right on both counts.

I loved "I dont like the drugs" it's a total "Fame" ripoff, but i don't care its funky! Also liked the dope show, and alot of that cd, the other albums were a little bit over the edge for me, and not as Bowiesque..

Is there a limit to how many covers one artist can do? From what I've heard, he's done the Eurythmics, Soft Cell, Patti Smith and now Depeche Mode??!?!? And to top it off, these were already popular and well known songs ( with the exception of Patti ). I don't like him, but he can do better than covers.

Ahhh..

Yeah, I've seen this one in some boot stores in town. I'm usually pretty careful about boots. They're pricey and usually the quality is junk. I did however get some early Spooky Kids demos on a CD a while back. I think it's the actual demo that they were using at the time.

Yeah, but it was a cover that really launched his career. He could have done it anyway, but it was a smart move.

Besides, his covers are usually pretty hot.

I definitely dig Manson. I've been a fan since the first album, have them all.

Have some bootlegs and demos as well.

Asking how many Prince fans like Manson covers just about any artist on here, really.

People are all over the place in their taste, as they should be.

cool

(Filth is one I always wished made it to an album though.)

I am a new fan of Marilyn Manson. I got into him about a year ago. I think he is very underrated. The guy, and his collaborators, writes great songs. I think too many people don't give him a chance because of his image. Having said all of that, I do think that Golden Age Of Grotesque may be a bit of a creative dead end. I think he needs to change his sound a little. Hopefully the next album will be quite different than the last. If not, I think his days may be numbered.

He did say that he's working on some different stuff right now for the next album.

But I don't think he's hit a "dead end" yet. TGAOG hit number one and he still has a huge following. He's still on track.

To be honest, I like to see him do some funk-glitter oriented stuff. He could pull it off if it was done right. i always thought if he added some funk to his thing, he would really be on to something. And I'm not talking some chilli pepper type funk but Parliament or early Prince type funk. I'm surprised he hasn't done that yet. With his image, that would be interesting. I think a lot more people would bite if he did that.

i used to love mazza! his first cd is the shit but it kind of went down hill after that. he puts on a great live show, though. personally i think, if and when he puts out a brand new cd he will need to try and re-invent himself and try something different. like maybe acting "normal". that would really throw people for a loop. maybe he could be the new justin timberlake and do some dance moves.

Yep-it's on Demos and Remixes 3, at least the copy I have of it.

Pretty raw sound quality cause it's a demo, but I think there's potential in there.

I've kept an open mind about Mr. Manson. I think he's put of some great music in the past, but he's also got caught in the trap of making music that won't alienate the core of his fan base. There's only one exception I can think of, Mechanical Animals, which was a brilliant step forward. Probably my favourite Manson album. Since then though there's not much been alot going on in terms of creativity compared to the first few years of his career. I think Marilyn's capable of alot more. Maybe if Trent Reznor got involved again (not likely of course..) things could change?

I think alot of people write Marilyn Manson off as a sort of teenage novelty group, but there's no doubt that Manson himself is an intelligent guy. I've been a casual fan on and off for about five years so I'm familiar with pretty much all of his stuff and I have a few albums lying around.

I caught the Grotesque Burlesque tour last November and it blew me away - the music, the visuals, everything. But I really wonder how he's going to cope without John 5. The guy was essential to the band. Although he was restricted, musically, and couldn't really show off the full extent of what he can do, it's safe to say he's the best guitarist Marilyn Manson has had. So moving forward might be a little harder. But then again, when Twiggy Ramirez left I did wonder, but things seemed to be going fine. Who knows.

So all in all, the guy and his band ain't bad. Seems like he might be quitting though after he gets married.

Maybe it's more than unlikely that there'll be another Manson/Trent collaboration. confused

What musician has been the biggest asshole toward you?

If I were the kind of person to be insulted by petty things, I would be insulted by the way Trent Reznor has acted since I moved from Nothing Records [Reznor's label] on to Interscope.
