Who's More Talented....Michael Jackson or Janet Jackson?

The Jacksons is a family full of talent. Which do you think has more talent, Michael or Janet? I would say Michael by a longshot.

i am failing to see the problem peeps are having with this thread. is it not a legitimate question? and before anyone says "its been done to death"...please...this is the org. its been the same bunch of people for years, give or take a dozen, and they've all been rewording the same threads.

in answer to the question...as much as i love janet jackson, and as much as she is my favorite jackson...mj really is the King of Pop (and i never capitalize, people)! he has had more direction over his career and he's had a tremendous amount of influence on his little sister. both are talented in their own right but michael has taken it to a higher level, in my opinion.

in 2004? i think they've switched their old rivalry around to where they're now competing to see who's suckier.

Thank you. It is a legitimate question. It is in no way meant to degrade Michael Jackson in any way. It's simply a comparison of two talented artists that happen to be from the same family.

Actually, we're tired of:

a) the comparison threads
b) MJ threads

That's all.

I don't really think it's fair to compare the two. We all know the answer.

Nonetheless, I love Janet! I had a major crush on her when I was younger. I love her stuff, RN1818 particularly.

You know "Control"? I think it's a decent LP, a lot of 80's fun. Then one day I'm looking in my collection and I discover that I own Control, Control: The Videos, Control: The Mixes, and 7"/12" of all the singles from Control. WTF? How did this happen!?!?

Whilst I wouldn't argue that she was more talented I would certainly say that, in my opinion, JJ is a far better dancer than Michael Jackson. Just look at the two of them dancing together in Scream. Whilst it ca be argued that Michael was somewhat older than her at the time I would still argue that looking back over her performances and videos she is a more exciting dancer.

*awaits barrage of objections*

There will be no objections from me: I completely agree. I respect Michael's accomplishments and his contributions to the music industry. And I can't question the fact that Michael is a creative genius. But I'm more of a Janet fan. Up until this recent era, Janet's music, dance style and videos seem to have transitioned better than Michael's for some reason. In fact, the recent From Janet to Damita Jo DVD has reminded me that Janet is an amazing creative force and "one-of-a-kind" music/video artist in her on right. Both Janet and Michael are extremely gifted, so in a way, it's unfair to measure one's talent against the other. However, in regard to overall longevity and appeal, Janet is the winner by far.

Michael is by far the better dancer. I'm talking about his 70's stuff as well. Have any of you guys seen The Jacksons TV show? Mike broke it down in many diffrent styles. Michael created a whole style of his own. Janet is just choreographed by other people.

I gotta say only thing they're comparable at is dancing. Michael is Janet's biggest influence.

Michael is better dancer imo, he's more exciting. Janet is great at choreography but put michael on stage even without music, he'll still create the magic. eg, endpart of black or white video. blows me away.

lol, what i'm saying is Mike can actually choregraph his own stuff. Anybody seen the dancing in "Ghosts"? It's freaking incredible.

And I seen MJ and JJ dancing side by side in Scream to the same choreography. Niether one outdid the other IMO.

When both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly praise JJ's dancing, then maybe we can have this conversation biggrin

I'm a fan of both, but MJ is the bigger talent. Yeah, his time has clearly come and gone, but he's a much better songwriter and producer than Janet is. She's talented in her own right, but she's always needed more guidance from others to bring out her best. The odd thing about Michael is that it's always seemed to me that his talent is almost savant in a way. He's consumed with his music, and a complete mess in most every other way.

wtf????? Bit of a no brainer, don't u think???? Janet isn't too bad, but there is no denying the talent of Michael Jackson. It was so natural for him, just have a look at Victory tour if u get a chance to do so, or the Bad tour that followed....heaps more examples, but those are the ones that are in my head at the moment. Almost as if he was born dancing and singing.
