Although I like both versions ( and I also like the earlier version Todd did with Nazz), I like The Isley Bros.' version best! [Edited 9/12/04 1:45am] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

I love Todd's work, and respect him as such a talented Artist, that i gotta go with him.
Of course every one has their own opinion. Saw Todd perform this song on 'The Letterman Show',..about a year ago, and the guy was just magnificent.Goose Bump material. Professional, , what's the next level, genius maybe. He started with the line; "Hi Dave it's me!" No detrement to Isleys...or his Nazz version, or his studio version, in fact what i'm talking about is this LIVE performance, so i suppose i'm a little of Topic, but i was stupified at how he performed this song .Oosing with personality.Hadn't heard or seen anything of him for such a long time that i'm biased here in my opinion. Why the question lovedad43 ? ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

Todd's great, but the Isley Brothers version is better. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

lately especially, i just haven't been able to get past todd's voice...it's like buttah. i'm sure the isleys' version is great to their fans, but after giving his best-of CD many listens over the summer, i can't help it. i'm smitten.

Todd's, by far. But if you had asked me which version of "Summer Breeze" it's the Isley's. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

maybe if Todd crooned "Hello...Hello" 50 times like Ron did in the first 30 seconds of his rendition of the song I might like his better

With the exception of paligap, how many times do I have to keep telling you folks...it's the Nazz version.

i s'pose we could sum up that this is a great song....,and we all like the song but have preferences as to whose version of it means something to us. No shame in having a different opinion on things, in fact all this has gotten me to dig up all versions...which was a nice way to waste some time.
Thanks 4 bringing it up lovedad43. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

I love both for different reasons....I heard Todd's on satellite at work, called the record store to inquire about the artist and bought the CD that day...I love the music. I love the Isley's version overall (vocals, music, arrangement etc.). Isley's version is so popular, fans are surprised to find out that "Hello It's Me" was not recorded by The Isley's first. Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight It's cold outside And much too late to driiiiiiiive You know I need you baby I'm so lost without your love Mariah Carey - Stay The Night

Definitely Todd's. It amazes me when people don't know the the Isleys didn't do it first. The ORG - the only place where you can be called a wigger, a racist and a Nazi and be banned for defending yourself. It's so hard being white nowadays...
