So, am I the only one here who digs (dugged) The New Radicals?

This is one of my guilty pleasures. redface I actually tried turning on a couple of my friends to this CD and they look at me like disbelief hmm

I love this CD!!! woot! Though, I've heard it referred to as music for mallrats, that doesn't take away from the frontman's talent. hmph! He's a damn good writer! It's to bad he left the band after the first cd because he didn't like the politics of the music business. lol I read an interview where he said the reason he wore his hat like that was because he was unhappy with his current music situation.

It my be my imagination, but is seems this kid was heavily influenced by Prince. nod So of his falsettos are hauntingly similar and there's a couple of tracks where the purple one's influenced is obvious.

New Radicals leader Gregg Alexander announced Monday (July 12) he is disbanding his alternative-pop band, whose only album, Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too (1998), featured the name-dropping hit "You Get What You Give." The singer/songwriter said he wants to focus his efforts on producing. "I view myself much the same as a just-getting-started Babyface," he said in a statement, referring to the producer of such hit acts as Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men and Madonna. Alexander said he will produce an album, due in September, by singer/actress Danielle Brisebois, who was a member of the New Radicals. "Over the last several months, I'd lost interest in fronting a one-hit wonder to the point that I was wearing a hat while performing so that people wouldn't see my lack of enthusiasm," Alexander said.

I wonder if that project ever happened? hmmm

Not a bad album... Musically I think there could of been more. I believe around that time Beck's "Minite Vultures". Amazing. Prince would agree on this.
