Jaco Pastorius: favorite moments...

I was thinking about this after the Weather report thread: anybody got any favorite Jaco moments, either on record or live?...mine are:

"Three Views of a Secret" from Word of Mouth:
My favorie Jaco tune. I think Jaco's brilliant bass playing sometimes overshadowed his considerable abilities as a Composer and arranger, and I think this is one of the best examples. his playing, while fluid, acts merely as a support for the tune itself, which features Jean "Toots" Theilemans playing harmonica wonderfully throughout the piece. I think "Three Views Of A Secret" should definetly be considered a Jazz standard...

"Harlequin" and
"A Remark you Made"from Weather Report's "Heavy Weather": I always thought Jaco's fre playing sounded like almost like a moaning voice...great showcases for his melodicism...

"Heijira", from Joni Mitchell's Heijira Album: I have to stop whatever I'm doing when I listen to this tune...

Black Crow and Coyote, from Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light album

"Dreamland" from Michel Colombier's "Michel Colombier" album:
...a great ballad from Michel,IMO, one of the most beautiful pieces Jaco's ever recorded...

"Teen Town" from Heavy Weather:
when I first heard this as a kid, I thought it was just a keyboard Bass...I kept flipping the album over and staring at the credits....

Continuum, from Jaco's "Invitation" album: I like the original version on his first album, but this live version is done solo, just Jaco and his harmonics, ala "Portrait Of Tracy"...

"Good Question", on Herbie Hancock's Sunlight album: as Herbie said " whenever Jaco and I get together, We start playin' some Other shit!"

"John and Mary" from Word of Mouth: again Jaco's Bass playing isn't really featured heavily, just a support for Jaco's composition : I've always liked this one...to me, it always sounded almost like some kind of Balinese jungle song...

"Liberty City" from "Word Of Mouth": swingin' Horns! again, a showcase for Jaco's arranging...

"Harliquin" is cool. I know that one the best. Overall, I admire his playing. Bad cat. I've checked him out on a few of The Weather Report albums.

Every Jaco moment was a great Jaco moment.
