favorite guitar?

guitars.. they can be so beautiful .. works of art
or they can suck badly.
The Guitar is my favorite instrument (that, and the theremin smile )

what are your favorite models?
I'm a Gibson lover:

Eric Clapton in his Cream days, when you say Clapton, you say Fender.. but this one beauty of a Gibson SG.

the Angus Young SG signature .. hmm (i own a replica)

Jimmy Page's Gibson Les Paul, old school and lovely

and this one is for Minneapolisgenius .. the gibson sg doubleneck.. It's really exhausting playing on of these, damn heavy!

drool Oh, you beat me to it. biggrin

Thank you. I like the Les Paul better than the doubleneck.

The new Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul came out recently (Jimmy signed and numbered the first 25 of them) and the first one sold for $50,000! I mean, it's a replica!
shocked

Here's an interview from last year with Jimmy where he talks about his Les Paul. It was right before the took it to make the replicas. Pretty cool. biggrin

For me, instruments are just tools of the trade and I really don't have an allegiance to any particular brand. BUT, I've been known to sleep with my Martin acoustic.

Damn, I don't even play the freakin' guitar, but I just love looking at them anyway. I'm learning though (about guitars, that is). Maybe one day I'll actually try to play.

Or not. boxed

The guitar really speaks the voice of the music and it's tonal range. As does the amplifier it's played through.

I just bought a new American Telecaster and it's the sweetest thing I've added to my funk arsenal but just because my Gibsons didn't have the mid-range tone that funk requires.

What the fuck am I trying to say? I love all guitars for what they do and the music they make.

I'm getting all misty, I've got to go.

I have been considering it lately. hmmm

Page also played a Danelectro. Mostly during White Summer, and "In My Time of Dying".

Well, My faves r the ones that I own. I have a Dean custom pearl white 1976 flying V with modified "golden angels" which serve as the knobs. I have another 1976 custom Dean flying V, which I had painted black with white polk-a-dots ala Randy Rhoads. I still have my beloved first guitar, a black Les Paul copy from when I was 13. I got this because it looked like the guitar Rick James is holding on his first album "Come and Get It". I have a black Gibson acoustic and a sunburst Rickenbacker bass. The only guitar that I don't have that I want is a Gibson doubleneck ala Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner from The Ohio Players and Page.

When I was little, I used to play my dad's guitars lefthanded. He would always try to get me to switch and play righthanded, but my mom would tell him to let me be. It was because of Ace Frehley that I switched from left to right, so by the time I got my first guitar, I was playing righthanded. I was just like Jimi in the sense that Jimi wrote with his right hand, but only played lefthanded on the guitar.

I'm partial to the look of a Fender Telecaster, and the tone of the Fender Stratocaster, but I like both tones. Actually, I think country music guitarists are more likely to use the Tele than rock or funk guitarists. But it's also all about what a guitarist can get out of the instrument, and that capability resides within his/her hands.

There's a Fender Tele that Pete Townsend plays, the body is black with a white penstripe around the entire edge of the body. I wouldn't know where to find a picture of it online, but I THINK he plays it in the "Eminence Front" video, either him or Roger Daltrey.

I don't dig the gaudy look in anything, and musicial instruments are no exception. I like regal simplicity. This is in part why I love Prince's Hohner with the leopard skin pickguard, instead of those gawd-awful symbol guitars and other weirdly shaped axes he lugs around.

I looked around online to see if I could find a pic of this for you, because it interests me as well. I found a website that lists all of Pete's guitars and equipment he used over the years since the late 50s.

It is UNBELIEVABLE how many guitars this man has owned and/or played. We're talking at least 100 that were listed! eek So, needless to say, I couldn't find that one you were talking about, although they listed tons of Stratocasters.

Is this your card?

This style Tele was originally built for Pete by Roger Gifin (the one used on Eminence Front)
and later by Schecter who also built a gold one.

Yeah, it looks like we found the same site. I should have known it was custom made, because I've never seen anyone else but Pete play it. I'm not much for that gold one, though, it's too plain. I like the sunburst designs too:

There are different sunburst designs, obviously some are better than others. To me this one's not the best looking one , but I dig it.

He's been around for about 40 years, and you know he busted up a ton of 'em intentionally. So yeah, I'm sure he's been thru a gang of 'em, and at least 100 probably only scratches the surface. biggrin

I think there was a time every guitar playing Prince fan wanted one of these.

Then I had a big crush on this one! love

Then I started digging on these!

But now adays, I don't know what I like or want, I use to like all of those guitars for aesthetic reasons, not for sound or playablity, I think right now I would love to own a S FUCKING G!!! horns
