Clinton in L.A. Here's an interesting blurb from the L.A. Weekly on George Clinton's appearance at the Echo.
Parliament-Funkadelic at the Echo - Echo Park On August 11, Judge Thomas Bateman III sentenced 63-year-old Parliament-Funkadelic leader/American national treasure George Clinton to 200 hours of community service and one year of probation (and fined him $372) after Clinton pleaded no contest to two crack-related misdemeanor charges. Methinks the ol' judge may be a rear admiral in Uncle Jam's Army from back in the rooster part of the day, because this is hardly a sentence - we all know that George does at least three hours of community service every time he and his 20-plus-strong funk orchestra take it to the stage to perform their gig-length medleys of P-Funk hits. Apparently there will be a stripped-down P-Funk ensemble on hand for this special, insanely, improbably intimate show. No matter: Minds will be freed, asses will follow. Pay whatever it takes to get in tonight, but please, people - let's leave the crack pipes at home. I have seen George in concert so many times. Been there done that big time. Yeah, I've seen him a bunch of times too! But, I'm like bruh is getting up there, better inhale the funk deeply and hold it in for as long as you can cause that connection might not be here any longer. I really wish Booty's would bring his ass back here, he killed any P-funk I've ever seen! That's where the real source is. | |
