Macy may not have a great voice, but she sings live, unlike Janet. Janet has become an older Britney (if ya know what I mean). She barely ever sings anything live and when she does, you can hardly hear her. She worries more about her lame dance moves. I would love to see Janet release an album of older classics so we can actually hear her voice. I used to like Janet, but the past couple of years her music has been a huge disappointment for me.

Good lord. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone or some shit. They give somebody a "neo" image and put some cool music behind her, and ya'll fell for it hook, line and sinker. Macy butchered Janet's song on the MTV icons. Me and my kids were falling all over ourselves laughing. The only thing that she has going for her is image. She can't sing a lick. If macy had been on the American Idol tryouts, ya'll know you would have been laughing your asses off that she even had the audacity to try out. Give me Janet any day. Hell, I'll even take Brittny over Macy. **************************************************

Big props to Macy Gray. She is unique and different in this boring climate of today's music. It's not all about the voice. I have enjoyed all her cd's. Rock on Macy.

I know. I saw the album in stores and went "how the hell can she have a best off album out already?" I mean, not even Z-list boybands make a best off after 3 albums. That's just silly. I liked her first album tho. The second was ok. The third was pretty dull. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Damn I thought I was the only one that didn't get the appeal. I think she is on Heroin personally.

Macy Gray is the female equivalent of Sly Stone during the 70's. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Yep You won't get an argument out of me on this one.

I agree with the Sly Stone analogy.
I also agree with the point about her being a artist foremost and a sexpot secondly (or wherever folks would like to classify that element of her image). Fact is, attractive or not, Macy's just Macy... a unique talent.

The MTV Awards that year were prior to September 11 - she certainly didn't wear that dress after the towers were hit...it was a couple of weeks prior. And Macy's got one of my favorite all-time singing voices - not to mention her songwriting and production skills that make me quiver. She ain't for everybody (apparently) but that just makes me love her all the more. I haven't seen the commercial, but I was disappointed to hear she was covering "Walk This Way." I mean, if you're gonna cover a song, why not pick a good one? Ugh. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

'WHY THE HELL IS MACY GRAY ALLOWED TO EXIST'
Cause she's cool, and she's got style. I'm still playing "On how life is". The girl got skill.
