Oh...so now we're complaining that some artists are actually playing a real musical instrument? In this era of sampled music and pre-recorded backing tapes,we should be applauding anyone who plays guitar, even if it's only "the same 4 chords".

I guess you'd rather that everyone just forget about real instruments and build a career out of using samples like P.Diddy? confuse

people who roll around the floor inwedding dresses should not be allowed to play instruments. i'll be patiently awaiting the Usher-Acoustic album, or the Janet- Unplugged video

What do you mean Madonna shouldn't be "allowed" to play instruments?? I didn't know that she needed your permission to pick up a guitar.

if they play a whole concert, i'd be impressed. strumming one or two songs and then choreographing the rest of the show doesn't exactly strike me as greowing as an artist. in the case of Alicia Keys and Andre 3000, it's like they're trying legitimize that they are great "musicians"..

I'm sure she'll be thrilled and ecstatic that she got your approval and permission lol

Is there anything else that she needs to consult with you about before she begins a future tour? wink

This is a peeve of mine too. I'm a cynic, so I can't help thinking that some artist do it 'cause it ups the coolness factor several notches.

Curious. Can anyone wail like Hendrix by just playing 4 chords? neutral

that's exactly why they do it...including Andre and I love him! When I saw Madonna "playing guitar" on her cable special I was like "awww isnt that cute, she's pretending to play" lol

I really have no problem with it,
But it does kinda make me mad from a guitarist point of view
Cause i spent many long years of tweaking intertwining my soul with the guitar,
which is a relationship based of pure love

these chumps playing is only for recognition, and to not spend money on an Extra guitarist
Its purely Cosmetic

But hey, its really no big deal, its not like the public cares
let them have their fun man, who says you need to be stevie ray vaughn or prince, to hold a guitar?

me personally, i would never play something(instrument-wise) without having a deep relationship with.

the Musician attains an Orgasmic Relationship with his instrument
cool

SO WHAT?? Why get upset over the fact that artists like Andre3000 are trying to take instrument playing seriously? Im not gonna slam anyone for it, studio music and live performances are sadly lacking live instruments. I rather see him strum 4 chords over and over again then only have the guitar out there to slam it on the ground to pieces!

I like your choice of words..."trying to learn." Not only does she have to try to play, she has to try to learn.
