I stand corrected. It was NOT the paltry sum of 700-800 million dollars, it was a BILLION they were offered. Check it out:

Take a Billion Dollar Chance on Me

Then, along comes ABBA to confound everyone. Four years ago, a German entertainment company offered the Swedish super-group one billion dollars to reunite for a world tour. Yes, that’s right: $1,000,000,000. “It’s never going to happen,” ABBA guitarist Bjorn Ulvaeus told them.

ABBA: Won't Do Reunion Tour

Not even for a billion dollars. Really.

I think you will find if you do the proper research it was a billion Swedish Kronor. Which in UK sterling is somewhere around 70 - 80 million pounds.

Get the fuck out of here! That's very cool, player! The bass line is right on target. Tell your uncle that he got down on that track!

THis is a pretty funky pic of him from the 70's getting down

I like the song but it's not one of my favorites. I can listen to it but I just can't get fully into it.

The offer was made by a British-American consortium, and over the years everytime I see a report about it it states 1 billion dollars. Anything beyond that, I'm sure somebody else will do the research, as it's not important enough for me.

Can this perhaps be one of the best pop songs? Not just disco, this has so many ingredients that makes it special. From the piano slide the opens the song (very similar to "I Want You Back" from the Jackson Five) to the great music, (that hi-hat), great lyrics and great vocals, this song is the epitome of everything that was great about the 70's. Not just kids, but grown people believing that dreams can come true, beautiful girls with big blown dry hair and strawberry flavored lip gloss and making out for 6 hours! This song is special. Anyone out there in space digs this song as well?

It's a great song, but they play it so f*cking much at the gay bars, I've really started to despise it.
