Physical effects of music It's interesting how music can physically affect a person. I suppose the most common one is chills down the spine and being brought to tears by a song. But I've noted some interesting experiences recently -- I picked up Bjork's "Medulla" today, and listening to Where Is The Line for the first time, I went into a kind of haze: chills down the spine, my eyes watered, and I actually began to involuntarily twitch and salivate. That's the effect she has on me.
And it works the other way, too. Listening to Freaks On This Side, the nauseating combination of the chant, the horn section, the horrible triple vocals and the wobbly keyboard make me actually feel physically ill and want to throw up. When has this happened to any of you? | |

Hardly a trap.
The combination of musical tones do have the POWER to affect the mind in some amazing ways. (playing master of the obvious) If you're looking for a detailed study of this phenomena, consider the book The Psychology of Music... ...by Diana Deutsch, PhD (ISBN: 0122135628) http://psy.ucsd.edu/~ddeutsch/ This is now a legitimate college-level course of study. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
