I thought a lot of the songs on the first side sounded like the band was on autopilot, but side two was impeccable.

I think that song is actually considered something of a landmark in the popularization of house music (isn't it???) - but I've just never liked it all that much. Having said that, I haven't listened to that album in years so I guess I ought to give it a spin with fresh ears before I pass any final judgement on it.

best album of theirs. all of the songs pretty much rocked. The last 3 on there...it almost doesn't get better than that.

did anyone ever notice that the album version and the single of Fine Time were strangely different?

The video for Round and Round was very cool too. I miss them.

Fine time was their attempt at the Acid House that was influencing practically all of the Euro bands of the time. I think it worked well as a New Order song...but not as acid house. It was too experimental and not straight up dance music like acid house was.

i've been all about this box set ever since i bought it (which was the same weekend a certain pack of wild kitties attacked my nabe) - i haven't listened to the live disc yet, but i can't listen to the "pop" disc enough...i like the "pop" disc better than any other new order best-of comps i've ever heard. nod

" Every time I think of you, I get a shock right through like a bolt of blue. It's no problem I mind, it's the problem I find, leading a life I can't leave behind. "

You New Order fans, feel free to correct me if those lyrics are wrong, I don't mind. They're definetly a group whose music I want to check out, but but some certain DVD's came out recently that ate up my play money. mad eek lurking

Technique is a homage to barn yard vaginas.

Listen to the intro track -- sheep all over the place (It was very popular in Birmingham Alabama amongst the 5 points crowd).

Too weird. I hadn't pulled it out in ages and I didn't even know you bought it. See, if I say I like the Pop disc best I'll think about how much I like the Club disc, and then I'll think how the Fan disc didn't come out of my walkman for like 3 weeks. So yeah, I like the whole thing. biggrin
