a forgotten genius? Kris Kristofferson!

every now and then someone on this board starts a 'best songwriter', 'best sinder',...tread. Although I always find them interesting they usually leave me with one question: why does nobody besides me ever recognise this guy:

This guy wrote classics like 'me & bobby mcgee', 'sunday mornin comming down', 'help me make it through the night'. Worked with all the greats of the earth from johnny cash to barabara streisand and everything inbetween. As a songwriter i think his talent is almost unmatched and in musics history he should be given a place in the galery these days only reserved for the likes of hank williams, cash, elvis & sinatra. So what's up with that?

Why doesn't this guy get the credit he deserves?

He's talented, yeah, but I don't agree with: "As a songwriter i think his talent is almost unmatched and in musics history he should be given a place in the galery these days only reserved for the likes of hank williams, cash, elvis & sinatra."

well that's just my humble opinion on the matter. But i do think he should get a bit more recognition than he does. (again just mho)

songs like 'beat the devil' 'casey's last ride' 'bobby mcgee'. Contain so much depth that it's a miracle they're still light & enjoyable. Sorta like Jeff buckley who too could put so much texture & information into a song without making it so heavy it'd die. that's where i think his talent lies.

I definitely agree with that. I think he's really underrated. A very good actor, as well. thumbs up!
